A Cottage on an Island Where You Want to Spend This Spring
It seems we've found the perfect place for self-isolation
If you had the chance to escape somewhere in the world during quarantine, where would you be right now? You're sure this option would appeal to you. Because the owners of this countryside cottage were given the opportunity to buy not just a house, but an entire island in Finland.
We named this project "Ö," which means "island" in Swedish.
Just imagine: the outskirts of a national park, untouched nature, five acres of land (about 200 sotkas!), a wooden cottage with all amenities, a separate sauna and workshop (combined area of buildings – 70 square meters). The perfect scenario for self-isolation.
The island owners made sure they had everything they needed. Solar panels were installed on the roofs – a convenient and eco-friendly energy source. Drinking water is taken directly from the sea – there's a special filtration system on the island.
Buildings are heated using stoves. Thanks to the stove in the sauna, there is hot water and warm floors in the house.
The cottages and almost all interior furnishings are made of wood, which creates a feeling of unity with nature.
Designers did not paint the walls in different shades or try to fill the interior with unnecessary details – that would only disrupt the harmony.
Large windows enhance this effect – from any room in the house, you get wonderful views of the forest and sea. There's nothing to be shy about here – only nature and silence surround you.
