Home Decorated with Nature: Example from the USA

In this home, the interior is the surrounding nature, and instead of decoration, there are sunrises, sunsets, and the beauty of local forests. See what effect you can achieve by replacing solid facade walls with panoramic windows.

This single-story cottage on Whidbey Island, located north of Seattle, stands on the site of a former farm. The nature here is so beautiful that to avoid cutting down trees and disrupting the ecosystem, architects and designers created and implemented a house project where trees became part of its facade. Therefore, no tree was harmed during construction!

The house facade fully continues the landscape. For example, a wooden element in the finish creates the same sense of tranquility as the surrounding forest, while concrete and stone mimic the natural ground around the cottage. The layout of the house includes a large combined dining room-kitchen-living room, several bedrooms, a bathroom, and a terrace with crimson sunsets.

Interior accents focus on simple forms, with the decor consisting of diffused light, textures of natural materials, and, of course, visual unity with the changing seasonal landscapes visible through windows.

The entire interior (furniture, decor, finishing) is made using the same materials (wood, concrete, glass). This creates a unified space where each room flows into another. For example, kitchen facades are chosen to match the color of the living room windows and ceiling. Floors, work surfaces, and stone masonry on the fireplace create timeless classicism — a monochrome gray combination.

Designers used the same material and color combinations in all rooms. Decorative accents include a log instead of a bedside table in the bedroom or a stone-carved stand in the bathroom. And what else is needed when the view outside includes such trees?
