Kitchen Repair 4.5 sqm in a Khrushchyovka Apartment by Yourself

Today we'll look at a small typical kitchen in a five-story Khrushchyovka. The difficulty of organizing convenient space lay in the area - only 4.5 square meters! But Dasha and Dima Tretiyakvs, the owners of this apartment, handled the task with dignity. They did all the renovation themselves. It turned out very ergonomically, stylishly and budget-friendly.

This is what the kitchen looked like before renovation - a completely destroyed space with an inconvenient shape. The kids had to move the door opening to another wall to use more useful area.

The windowsill area was raised. A large working surface was created.

A small room heats up very quickly from the stove and oven. Therefore, the kids abandoned the radiator on the kitchen. They left only the pipes, which they covered with gypsum board. Thanks to this, a small storage space appeared under the countertop.

To avoid the kitchen appliances taking up too much space on the work surface, Dasha installed the microwave on a hanging shelf.

The kids wanted to get rid of closed hanging cabinets completely. But the reality is such that somewhere you need to store dishes. The upper row of cabinets took its honorable place on the left wall of the kitchen. The central view went to decorative hanging shelves - Dasha stores spices in beautiful jars there.

The presence of a dishwasher in the family was not discussed - it was Dasha's long-time dream. It was installed next to the electric oven. By the way, the cooktop here is gas.

Dasha did not cover the kitchen area with anything. As in the whole apartment, here are simply painted walls. It's easy to maintain them - just wipe with a damp cloth.

Lighting on the kitchen is quite simple: pendant lights above the main work surface, spotlights around the perimeter and on the extractor.

At Dasha's kitchen, we also spotted an original way to store wine corks. These are hollow loft letters that gradually fill up. Such an idea looks stylish and unorthodox 👍.
