Personal Experience: How a Laundry Room Was Converted Into a Dog Room
Blogger Shauna Beltramo shares her experience in decorating her home. One of the rooms was adapted for laundry use, but that's not all—this space became the perfect dog room.

Gracie and Kodak sleep here at night and stay during the day when the owner is away. To make pets comfortable, the door to the room is made of glass so they don’t feel trapped.
For safety, the walls and floor were tiled—puppies won’t be able to chew or damage anything. The colors chosen were classic: black and white.

To break up the monochrome interior, they opted for colorful furniture: the cabinet doors were painted emerald green. As Shauna says, "I'm glad I took the risk and did it."
She didn't stop there: she chose gold hardware—on a dark background, it looks striking. By the way, the same handles were used on the door to maintain the overall interior style.

Shauna organized storage wisely: open shelves and woven baskets of appropriate size. Here, clean laundry can be stored without cluttering the bedroom cabinets. Also, this approach doesn't block air circulation—better than storing clothes in closed drawers.

Under the countertop, there's room for bowls and a dog bed. The most clever invention by Shauna is a dog shower. The tray was raised to such a height that Shauna doesn't have to bend over. At the same time, the height allows dogs to jump on their own (though Kodak is stubborn and sometimes asks to be picked up).

"By the way, combining a laundry room and a dog room is an excellent idea. It always smells like detergent, and even if your pet has a smell, you won’t notice it," Shauna laughs.
This is an ideal solution for a country house, cottage, or spacious apartment: the laundry room is on the first floor near the entrance, and dogs don’t soil the floors after walks.
