2-room apartment in Sweden: Scandinavian design on a small budget
Large windows in this white apartment open onto a picturesque old courtyard: the entrance is decorated with heavy vintage forged gates. Nearby in the same courtyard is a museum: a special organization protects historical monuments from changes to its exterior.
In this apartment, they decided to preserve the historical atmosphere and kept the renovation minimal. The interior is not typically modern but respectful of tradition. They even preserved and restored two old tile stoves.

The apartment is only 42 sq. m, but smart zoning made the small space feel spacious and convenient.
The kitchen is open-plan but separated from the living room. Functional elements — storage cabinets, worktops, appliances — remain in the kitchen. The large dining table was moved to the living room, making the dining area larger.

All walls in the apartment are painted white, but to add accents, a fluffy white-and-black rug was laid on the floor in the room, and natural linoleum in a checkerboard pattern was used on the kitchen floor.

The old stove was not purely white but had barely visible greenish "splashes". Therefore, a lot of greenery was added to the apartment to support these splashes. The floor is made of natural pine, and the furniture is also natural wood — the apartment literally "breathes" naturalness and fully meets Swedes' expectations of eco-friendly housing.

The second stove is located in the corner of the bedroom. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work anymore, but adds beauty to the already lovely bedroom. The finishing touch is an old cabinet that was decided to restore and not replace with a new one. Radiators throughout the apartment were replaced, however.

The bathroom is located to the left of the living room. There are no special design features: everything is neat and white. Square tiles were laid with gray grout — it looks interesting. The white floor was broken up with Moroccan tiles with a bright pattern.

The hallway is small but convenient: it has hooks, shelves, and containers for small items. Most importantly, it is very bright, making the space look spacious and airy.
