Atmospheric Apartment Where Vintage Meets IKEA

This atmospheric apartment is located in the Polish town of Sopot on the Baltic Sea coast. This is how they call a quiet resort area where most Poles and Swedes buy themselves summer wooden houses with stained glass windows.

The apartment was purchased by a family couple: the wife works as an editor in a travel magazine, and the husband is a director. It was important for them to create a cozy interior for relaxation, emphasize the building's architecture, and maintain that resort atmosphere that permeates the streets of the town. The designers from Colombe Design helped them bring their vision to life.

The apartment is very spacious: a large living room, a working office, a separate kitchen with a dining area, a bedroom, and a combined bathroom. There is plenty of free space, high ceilings, and large windows through which light enters the rooms.

To emphasize the spaciousness of the space, a light color palette was chosen — the walls were painted in milky tones. The floor was left with light pine planks — the old surface was only sanded and coated with oil.

To prevent the living room from looking too big, it was divided into two parts using a glass arch — this touch added classical notes to the interior, although most of the motifs here are Scandinavian.

From the living room, one can enter a small working office — it was decorated with tropical wallpapers Pierre Frey.

Another unexpected accent awaits us on the kitchen wall: part of the wall above a marble splashback was covered with bright emerald wallpapers Elitis. They remind of fresh air and ocean depths.

By the way, green tones are found everywhere — on the headboard in the bedroom and on the upholstery of vintage chairs inherited by the owners.

Storage systems were so well integrated into the overall design that they are barely noticeable at first glance. For example, the whole wall behind the headboard in the bedroom is a large cabinet. The tone was chosen so skillfully that it almost blends with the paint.

Here, in the bedroom, there is another interesting feature — a small fireplace built with tiles. It adds a special atmosphere to the interior.

Pay attention: vintage items here blend easily with modern ones. For example, IKEA chairs harmoniously fit into the kitchen interior. Such contrasts add individuality to the space and make it even more interesting — one wants to look at the apartment for hours.
