Pink Apartment: Example from Sweden
How to add pink color to interior design so it doesn't look cheap or flashy? The answer is all about the shade
This apartment is an example not only of skillful use of color, but also of clever zoning and thoughtful layout. Designers managed to fit a separate bedroom, a work corner, and a combined living room-kitchen into just 48 square meters. Despite the open-plan space, the entire area is clearly divided into functional zones thanks to gypsum board overlays, different floor laying patterns, and wall niches decoration.

The main color throughout the apartment is white (walls, floor). Here white forms a classic combination with monochromatic pink shades: dusty pink, pale pink, and powder pink. Designers used these only as accents to avoid overdoing it: zoning the hallway, highlighting a wall in the kitchen, brightening the bedroom. This is where the secret of working with pink lies.

The living room in the apartment turned out spacious and as if detached from other spaces. This effect is created by the 'tree' floor pattern, unlike the straight-laid kitchen floor. A good way to zone the space.

The kitchen cabinets are finished with plywood that was pre-treated with white pigment and hard wax oil for a soft sheen. Wood finishing on the kitchen counterbalanced the peach-colored walls and brought warmth to the overall cool-white palette. Another highlight of the kitchen is a built-in refrigerator in the niche (you can bet you didn’t even notice it). A great trick when you want to maximize space utilization.

Through the partition, the bedroom is visible. By the way, the same plywood used for the kitchen was also used for the partition and bed base. Designers installed such a high base not by accident – it serves as a wardrobe. Coral-colored walls here blend perfectly with wood, daylight, and green plants.

The bathroom is decorated simply but tastefully. For a change from classic black tiles on the floor, designers found dark green ones. It looks fresh.

The hallway is zoned from the common space by beams and color. Here, a soft powder pink shade was diluted with coarse interior items: a brass chandelier and metal handles.
