A simple and quick makeover that we really love. In this post you'll find a step-by-step guide + tips

All great ideas are simple. See how cute this planter turned out to be from a regular IKEA box (we found this idea on the hunker website). Even if you don't have time for makeovers, scroll to the end of the post — you'll find tips on decorating your interior with green plants.

What you need?

  • IKEA VÄRME box;
  • 4 wooden dowels with a thickness of 2.5 cm;
  • a drill;
  • wood glue or universal adhesive;
  • screws;
  • paint (optional).

Trim the wooden dowels

Choose a comfortable height for yourself. For example, on the photo the legs are 53 cm long.

Mark the layout

Place the dowels where the legs will be and trace them with a pencil or pen.

Drill holes

Drill holes in the center of the marked legs.

Prepare the dowels

Holes should also be drilled in the dowels. For a better effect, you can add glue.

Attach to the box

Use screws to attach the legs to the box as shown in the image.

Wait a few hours

Done! You can use the planter about four hours later. For example, put pots inside or just fill with soil and transplant plants (in this case it's better to place a plastic sheet or bag inside the box).

ADVICE

If desired, the planter can be repainted (or just the legs), or coated with clear varnish. You can read more about how to do it in our article.

Use hooks, baskets, and pockets for wall storage. For example, in the hallway.

Decorate a wall or bed headboard in the bedroom.

Place pots on shelves in the bathroom (if you have free space, of course).

Use open shelves on the kitchen to free up windowsills.

Let trailing plants grow by the window — a great alternative to boring curtains.
