We present examples of interiors where cornice decor plays a leading role, and you decide whether it fits organically into the space.
Interior cornices and moldings are once again in trend. Designers increasingly use cornice decor in modern interior designs, for example, to compensate for low ceilings or make a room visually more cohesive.

We have selected several interesting projects where moldings, sockets, and other elements of cornice decoration were used.

Therapy Apartment in Moscow
In the design of an apartment for a family with a child, designer Sergy Makhov used matte paint in calm gray tones, as well as decorative moldings, ceiling cornices, and high baseboards. The cornice socket accentuates the coral chandelier made of glass. On a completely smooth ceiling, it would look overly ornate.Photo: Kitchen and dining room in Modern, Classical, Eclectic, Interior decor, Minimalism, Cornice, Malitskikh Studio, Valeria Dan'kovskaya, Sergy Makhov, Nadezhda Kiselykova, One Line Design, cornice decor, moldings, Karina Rimik, cornices, baseboard, socket, architectural decor – photo on our siteDesign: Sergy Makhov

Chess Player Apartment Project

The owners of this apartment are chess players, and Karina Rimik selected finishes and decor that fully reflect their passion. According to the designer, many projects today do not convey a specific stylistic direction but rather express the individuality of the client.

Chessboard patterns in the interior were interpreted using contrasts of black and white in both finishes and furniture. Wide cornices and moldings on the walls, as well as a fireplace with cornice, harmoniously complement the interior.

Modern Studio Apartment for a Young Woman

This is a vibrant modern apartment designed for a young woman. Due to the small space—only 40 square meters—and low ceilings—2.5 meters—designers carefully added elements of cornice decor to the interior. But thanks to a wide ceiling baseboard, the boundary between walls and ceiling is blurred, making it visually appear higher.

Apartment in St. Petersburg Project

In this apartment, designers from "Malitskikh Studio" decided to create an ascetic setting with minimal decor. The walls were plastered, decorated with moldings, and painted in light gray shades.

The advantages of architectural decor made from polyurethane foam include its visual similarity to plaster, ease of installation, water resistance, tolerance to temperature fluctuations, and the ability to paint it in any color. Additionally, it is affordable, which is important when planning a renovation budget.

Apartment in Chelyabinsk Project
For a family with a teenage son, designer Nadezhda Kiselykova designed the interior in a modern style with interesting solutions and accents. Sliding doors were installed between the living room and kitchen for zoning purposes. Six load-bearing columns were decorated with polyurethane moldings to seamlessly integrate them into the interior.Photo: Living room in Modern, Classical, Eclectic, Interior decor, Minimalism, Cornice, Malitskikh Studio, Valeria Dan'kovskaya, Sergy Makhov, Nadezhda Kiselykova, One Line Design, cornice decor, moldings, Karina Rimik, cornices, baseboard, socket, architectural decor – photo on our siteDesign: Nadezhda Kiselykova

Studio Apartment on Taganka Street Project

In the design of the apartment, designer Valeria Dan'kovskaya used beautiful noble materials: hand-made wallpapers and ceramic granite resembling marble. Moldings with mirror inserts helped visually expand the space.
