What Designers Buy at IKEA

Items from IKEA often appear in designer projects. We asked designers about their favorite and most interesting purchases. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't the kitchen.

Decorating an apartment in the style of magazine covers can be done with IKEA. Most designers do exactly that: they combine popular items with furniture from expensive brands, repaint them, change the hardware, or leave them as they are. Let's find out what they choose most often?

Tatyana Bezhertseva — designer, graduate of the Moscow Institute of Design named after S.G. Stroganova, founder of TB.Design studio

STOCKHOLM shelves

The quality of IKEA cannot be called high, and I wouldn't buy sofas or kitchens from them. But these shelves are a guaranteed hit. Affordable, minimalist, and user-friendly: books, toys in boxes, clothes, decor — everything can be stored in STOCKHOLM. Especially in children's rooms.

HEMNES dressers

I like the simple design of these dressers. They have something of countryside style, but they fit even into classic interiors. Their appearance can be changed beyond recognition: repaint and change the hardware.

Basic textiles

Monochrome sheets, pillowcases, and towels can be bought for almost nothing. Also, shower curtains, monochrome velvet curtains, and children's rugs — cheerful, vibrant, and easy to get dirty.

Frame SILVERHOLM

I often use this frame in my projects, regardless of style. Perfect for abstract posters and graphics. Can be hung vertically or horizontally.

Dresser SKOENEVIK

Convenient and affordable. If desired, two dressers can be moved together and they will look like one.

Items from the STOCKHOLM collection

A three-seater dark gray sofa with an increased non-standard depth fits perfectly into one of my recent projects. Nearby are dressers and side tables in walnut veneer from the same collection. Their price-to-quality ratio is excellent.

Nightstands TISSEDALE

These nightstands are convenient and, in my opinion, quite affordable. By the way, the bedroom in the photo is from the same project.

Items from the YPPERLIG collection

With popular models and collections, everything is already clear. It's more interesting to see new collaborations with well-known designers. For example, Danes Rolf and Mette Haag prepared a collection for modern life. Chairs, sofas, side tables, and accessories in the style of the famous IKEA bag appear simple externally but are thoughtfully designed and functional, with long-lasting materials.

Items from the SPENS collection

Another collaboration I like. The creator is American fashion designer Chris Stamp. The collection includes shelves, storage boxes, and clothing storage systems. Even for skateboards!

Furniture handles BAGGANES

Elegance, minimalism, and practicality in one bottle. By the way, they come in various lengths, and you can combine handles on several facades in one room.

Writing desk ALEX

I chose this desk for my project due to its strict and minimalist design. It's convenient that there is a drawer for stationery and wires can be hidden in a built-in special compartment.
