This page is also available in the following languages:🇷🇺🇺🇦🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇵🇱🇨🇳

We tell you about new basic colors and fashionable accessories — trends from the recently held Salone del Mobile.Milano Moscow exhibition and more

What furniture and accessories will be relevant in the new year, and what should you pay attention to when decorating a modern interior? Let's be inspired by new trends.

Brown Tones

Terracotta and all shades of brown are considered a new trend by critics. The trend was confirmed at the recently held Salone del Mobile.Milano Moscow exhibition. For example, the Calligaris booth was almost entirely designed in these tones.

By the way, Pantone Institute also named these colors a trend for the upcoming year. They are part of the Cravings palette, which was introduced in the PANTONEVIEW home + interiors 2019 catalog.

Plenty of Gold

The trend was also noted after the recently held Salone del Mobile.Milano Moscow exhibition. Gold tones dominated on several booths of major companies.

For example, Arizzi featured brass and crystal chandeliers. Turri Factory showcased gold inlays on furniture, especially the Melting Light collection with its shimmer.

Compact and Functional Furniture

As city apartment sizes continue to shrink, the demand for compact furniture is increasing. Designers now offer furniture that can easily fit into small spaces. We expect modular sofas, built-in mini-kitchens, and foldable tables to be used more often in 2019 interiors.

For example, Moroso presented a new version of its bestseller—the classic Gentry Extra Light sofa—at the Milan Salone del Mobile. It is now more compact.

Soft Lines and Rounded Corners

Furniture with rounded corners was popular in the 60s and is now back in vogue. In 2019, sofas, armchairs, tables, and even carpets with soft lines will become relevant.

For example, at the recent Moscow exhibition, one of the main stars was Gianfranco Ferrè's modular sofa.

Furniture with Sculptural Base

Cattelan Italia has been manufacturing tables with massive, unusual-shaped bases since 1979. But today, nearly 40 years later, they have gained particular popularity.

The same trend was picked up by Longhi. They produce collections of tables and chairs with metal bases in various shapes.

Marble Countertops

Marble's popularity remains strong, but new bright variants are emerging. For example, the brand Roberto Cavalli offers green marble instead of the standard black-and-white.

Carpets… on Walls

Carpets continue to be widely used in interiors. But in 2019, they will start decorating walls again—instead of paintings and posters.

Boho Style Accessories

Weaved furniture, carpets with oriental patterns, fringe—70s hippie style is making a comeback. In 2019, boho-style accessories will be used more often, especially to soften cold Scandinavian interiors and boring minimalism.

Accent on Prints

Previously, accents were made using color, but now people are accustomed to bright interiors. Ornamentation is now in the spotlight—ornaments will be the main accents in 2019.

For example, at the Salone del Mobile.Milano Moscow exhibition, companies like Roberto Cavalli, Missoni Home, and CC-tapis demonstrated their attention to patterns. They showcased armchairs, sofas, and textiles with prints.
