What's in Style in 2018: 10 Major Design Trends
Designers from Welcome Studio shared the most vibrant trends of the year — the selection turned out to be very inspiring.
Abundance of Greenery
Large plants, preferably in exotic forms and in large quantities, will become the main accent in interior design — no more decoration is needed.

It is also possible to dedicate all walls to floral patterns or wallpapers. They can be any: black-and-white or, on the contrary, of unexpected color combinations — for example, pink and blue.

If you're not ready for such radical steps, you can add accessories with floral patterns — pillows or armchairs with such prints will make a neutral interior more interesting.

Or just place a large planter with an exotic plant.

Metallic Surfaces
In 2017, the popularity of warm-toned metals such as copper, bronze, and brass grew. These materials were used to accentuate design elements, decorating lamps, furniture, and fixtures.
Now, designers use metals in panel finishes, and this trend is gaining momentum. The priority is given to more matte surfaces — mainly brass.

Unconventional Color Combinations
Individually, these colors may not be pleasant to the eye, but together they become an essential part of one picture. Do not be afraid to play with unusual color combinations and find new vibrant contrasts.

The dominant color can be described as all shades of pink — it is now frequently seen in interiors. However, this trend will soon go out of style, so it's better not to indulge in this color too much. It is better to prefer deep blue-green tones, which will remain in vogue for a long time.

A popular approach is to divide a room or interior element into different colors horizontally. This adds graphic clarity to the space.

Flowing Shapes
The style of interior design is now slightly moving backward, drawing inspiration from Art Nouveau. This is most evident in the geometry of forms, which now feature rounded contours.

Graphic Patterns
Small tiles with patterns have long been popular in both residential and public interiors. In 2018, this trend continues to gain momentum, with patterns becoming more elaborate. Often, colors are replaced by purely graphic lines. It also looks beautifully and elegantly as wall graphics or as paintings.
Stepping Away from Minimalism
Completely minimalist interiors look too simple and somewhat out of touch with the times. Of course, an interior should be functional, but it needs to come alive. For example, a sofa set can consist of completely different elements — a modern sofa, a 60s-style armchair, and a boho-style hanging hammock.
The principle of such a mix is clear, but the key is not to overdo it.

Unusual Mirror Shapes
Mirrors are becoming art objects, acquiring a rounded shape and brass frames.

Velvet
This material is intriguing and complex. One element in velvet upholstery is enough to transform the entire interior.
The Return of Neon
Neon signs are returning to us — they are appropriate not only in public venues but also in residential interiors.
Florariums
Florariums are suitable not only for growing succulents and cacti — inside they can house a string of lights or a candle. Florariums come in various forms and look very stylish, outshining regular pots and planters.
