6 Tips from a Professional for Your Comfort

Elena Musina has created a concise guide for everyone who wants to decorate not only a stylish but also functional bathroom.

Elena Musina is an interior design expert and graduate of the International School of Design.

Tropical Shower

A person with a height of 170 cm should choose a shower stool no less than 145 cm in height. Install the mixer 15–20 cm above the edge of the bathtub rim — to prevent water splashing. The showerhead should be placed 35 cm above the head. A glass shower curtain will protect you from splashes.

Basin Height

Decide on the type of basin (mounted or integrated) in advance — this way, builders will correctly prepare the outlets for hot and cold water and drainage.

The standard height of a basin from the top edge is 80–85 cm. For people over 170 cm tall, it's more comfortable to raise it higher — up to 91 cm. The optimal distance from the wall or other items to the center of the basin is 50 cm.

Hygienic Shower

I recommend installing one. When planning the bathroom, think about storage for special liquid soap and towels. Also, don't forget to turn off the mixer after use. For forgetful people, there are special models — you won't be able to put the hose back in place without turning off the water.

Washing Machine in a Basin Cabinet

Remember the mounting gaps: with a machine depth of 45 cm, the countertop width will be 55 cm. If it hangs over the machine, it will be difficult to add powder to the compartment — so choose a model with a carousel-style opening or use capsules that are loaded into the drum.

Suspended Toilet

The appearance of a suspended toilet is much more aesthetic, cleaning is significantly easier, and this model also saves space. For small rooms, a low-profile installation system and corner variant have been invented.

Heated Floor

I'm definitely for it. In the bathroom, heated floor not only creates a comfortable temperature for flooring but also helps reduce humidity in the room.
