Minimalist Interior of an Unusual Studio Apartment in Sweden
In this case, the apartment's layout is determined by the architectural features of the house, more precisely its interior side facing the courtyard. That's where all the most charming elements of old Swedish houses are concentrated, which wonderfully complicate the spatial planning of apartments in such buildings.

Usually, designers working with such apartments try to hide the shortcomings of the space using textiles, shelves, or built-in wardrobes. However, the decorators from Alvhem Mäkleri & Interiör, who decorated this studio in Stockholm, decided to leave everything as it is and build the interior based on these inconvenient features.

Given that the apartment is small – only 38 square meters, and one side of the room is cut off, there was no point in separating the sleeping area. Therefore, the bed was placed next to the so-called living room zone, consisting of a sofa with fluffy cushions, a coffee table, and vintage accents – a tall lamp with a corrugated shade, an armchair, and a sideboard.

The stepped protrusions on the wall near the kitchen entrance could have been hidden or disguised, but that would have concealed part of the original plaster cornices in the living room. Instead, one of these protrusions fit the tall white dresser perfectly.

There are no rare cornices on the kitchen wall, which allowed for a more modern design. Despite the fact that the wall next to the kitchen, where the apartment door is located, is semicircular, and the hallway space is very conditional, designers still managed to create a small area for hanging clothes and placing shoes.

Another drawback of the interior is the lack of proper storage. But this is fixable. The most important thing is that those complex architectural features of the house and the picturesque courtyard inside truly delight the eye. Even when the layout isn't ideal.
