How to Decorate Your Home at the Last Minute Before New Year

Add more light to your interior

No holiday is complete without fairy lights, candles, and lanterns. With them, it's easy to go overboard and not overcomplicate things. String a garland on windowsills and secure it in several places using pieces of tape.

Use branches and pinecones

Bring a handful of pinecones and a bunch of fresh evergreen branches into your home. They're great for breaking up glowing garlands and decorating candleholders. If you scatter pinecones in glass vases along with faux fur and toys, you can beautifully decorate your New Year's table.

Decorate the door with a wreath

To avoid hassle with mounting, hang a wreath on a removable door hook.

Use artificial snow

Decorate your Christmas tree, candleholders, wreaths, ornaments, and other decorations with an aerosol can of artificial snow, and you'll be amazed at how easily you can transform your everyday interior into a winter wonderland.

Use fireplace, shelves, and dressers

The traditional spot for New Year's installations is the fireplace. But if you don’t have one, you can decorate bookshelves, low cabinets, and dressers in a similar way.

During the holidays, you can put books in boxes and replace them with glass vases filled with decorations, festive figurines, and holiday decor.

Hang decorative snowflakes

No time to cut out snowflakes? Buy several ready-made sets of different shapes and sizes and hang them on thin string from window sills and chandeliers. Natural airflow will keep the snowflakes always moving.

Fill your home with New Year smells

Spread oranges around the house or add them to festive decorative arrangements. If you have some spare time, make mulled wine, hot chocolate, or punch. They're easy to prepare, and the spiced mix can be bought at any supermarket.

If you have a little free time, bake traditional gingerbread cookies. Just try not to eat them all at once: trays of festive cookies are already a great decoration by themselves. By the way, they can even be used to decorate your Christmas tree.
