There is tile that charges smartphones

Cersaie is an annual exhibition in Bologna dedicated to ceramic tiles and sanitaryware. In scale, it rivals the Milan iSaloni. Iolanta Fedotova – a designer – attended the exhibition and selected the key trends that are expected in the upcoming year, sharing her impressions.

Large Format Tile

A clear trend of 2018. This is no longer just 60x120 cm, but 120x240 cm and even 160x320 cm. Main colors are white or black marble, concrete, and stone.

Minimal Decoration

The exception is tile with a patchwork pattern and large panels that look more like wallpapers or photo wallpapers. For basic tiles, natural tones are offered: white, beige, gray, and light brown.

Tile Mimicking Aged Wood

The colors and shapes can be any. At the exhibition, there was also tile mimicking parquet – but these are trends from past years that remain relevant.

Tile with Wireless Charging

Lamborghini created tile that can charge smartphones: just place the device on the countertop. Undoubtedly, this is one of the key trends for the future.

Granite Sinks – Colored and Monochrome

Wide selection: monochrome porcelain, multi-colored glass, gray or black metal. Karim Rashid presented his new collection of vanity tops for the Glass Design factory.

Unusual Shapes

Kerasan Factory released an unusual collection – including sinks shaped like human faces in various colors. There are versions with gold or platinum patina.

Shower Trays for Natural Stone

The textures are completely different – from smooth to rough, like real untreated stone. Colors in the stone series are natural: whites, beiges, grays, browns, ashy blacks.

Black Metal

The loft style is clearly leading now, and such items fit perfectly into it. Black metal is present everywhere: in shower partitions, mixers, and towel racks. I particularly liked the Diesel collection by Scavolini.

Stone Towel Racks and Radiators

These models were presented by Margoroli Home factory. These giant slabs will heat your bathroom in minutes. Sometimes it seems like a real piece of volcanic rock. By the way, there are both water and electric versions.

Unusual Mixers and Shower Heads

Geometric mixers from Bruma Europa Lda and shower heads from Alpi stood out – they look like wall sconces or ceiling fixtures but suddenly pour streams of water down on you.
