Lunch Table for Small Kitchen with Photos
Models of dining tables are various. When choosing a table for a small kitchen, you should always consider the shape of the room where it is planned to be placed. Starting from the parameters of the kitchen, you should consider different constructions, models, and table options.
Design: Anna ClarkCozy Round Table
It is well known that a round table creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere in living spaces. Tables with one central solid leg are particularly well-suited. Some folding tables can easily acquire an oval shape, allowing space for a large company.
Therefore, a round table in the absence of corners is the best choice for decorating a small space. Provided that the area allows the table to occupy the center of the kitchen or be placed in a corner. As on this photo.
The Familiar RectangleTraditionally, dining tables are often rectangular in shape. The model looks solid and is very spacious and convenient. It is reasonable to place it near a wall. Stools should be chosen in an optimal shape so that they can easily be pushed under the table after the meal.
There is an option not to place a table near the wall – that's great! It creates a chance to gather the family around it at once, and importantly, people seated at the table should face each other.
Design: Make DesignFlowing and Comfortable
Excellent idea – semi-circular tables. Their comfort and practicality come from their flowing shape, without corners. The straight part of the tabletop touches the wall, and a small table takes up little space. Though here it is easy to accommodate two or three people.
Semi-circular tables are often used by designers when decorating spaces in modern style. The round shape of the table will definitely add coziness to a small kitchen interior and encourage intimate conversations.
Design: Inna VelychkoAngular Dining Zone Option
A tiny kitchen, especially a narrow one, suggests an angular table. Immediately, there will be a chance to move freely along the standing kitchen furniture, cook, and serve food. An attached angular table, compact and unpretentious, will definitely help if there is a lack of space.
An angular table is attached to the wall, but sometimes has one support leg, which makes it more stable and reliable during use.
Heartwarming SquareSmall kitchens are often equipped with square-shaped tables. The model is compact, takes up minimal space, and is quite stable, usually having four legs. Additionally, there is an option to place the table in the center of the room or against a wall, and a good alternative is a corner.
It is better to choose a square dining table, as the shape allows for varying the placement of this essential piece of kitchen furniture and easily move it. There is also a plus, as clearly shown in the photo.

Suppose the layout of a small kitchen is such that there is no space for a dining table, then it makes sense to equip a narrow, elongated table as a bar counter. For example, place it by the wall, selecting stylish high stools. A narrow table always serves as a kind of lifeline even when the situation is critical due to lack of kitchen space.
Design: Irina LavrentievaMany Variations
Today there is a wide selection of functional tables that can significantly transform a small kitchen. It is necessary to plan ahead which specific table design from the variety will be the most rational and perfectly suited in all aspects:
- Folding
- Transformer
- Roller Table
- Foldable
- Bar Counter
- Window Seat Table
Tips from Anna KovalchenkoPutting it Away - Against the Wall
A folding table takes up minimal space in the kitchen, it is attached to the wall, and when there is no support – legs, the table fully disappears when not in use. The design allows the housewife to move freely and makes cleaning the kitchen easier. The only caveat is that a folding table should not be overloaded with heavy items.
Transform When NeededA transformer table is an indispensable item when the room space is too small, yet you need to cook, feed your family, and entertain guests. The ability to change the table's configuration for various needs, increasing or decreasing its size, is a huge advantage. When folded, the transformer takes up extremely little space. It does not need to be moved or relocated – very convenient.
Table on WheelsA roller table can easily be hidden in a drawer or under the surface of kitchen furniture. When needed, the table is pulled out on rollers and then pushed back in, freeing up space. There are interesting models of tables that move along kitchen furniture using a rail. Such a table can be easily placed where convenient and then returned to its original position.
Easily Folds and AssemblesA foldable table is a functional option acceptable in a small kitchen. Part of the table usually lowers down when dining for two. When gathering friends or relatives, the lowered part of the table is raised, and the entire company easily fits.
Design: "Kvadrim"Like in a Bar
A bar counter instead of a table is needed to save space and zone the kitchen area. This approach works well, just need to want to visually create a dining zone and another one for food preparation. The furniture set can include stools with high legs or bar chairs. The kitchen looks stylish and very modern.
Meal with a View from the WindowThere is an excellent way to equip a narrow table – use the windowsill for it. However, those seated here will face the window. Besides taking up minimal space, the long table allows enjoying the view from the window during meals. Therefore, it is not advisable to decorate the window with flower pots, as the view should remain open.
Design: Anna SukhayaPreference – Light Tones
The smaller the kitchen, the less acceptable are dark colors of furniture, creating a gloomy atmosphere and an impression of bulkiness. Furniture for small kitchens is selected in light, pleasant shades. White, beige, cream, ivory, sand – the most suitable colors for a table in a small space.
Light surfaces visually expand the space, fill it with joyful colors, and positively affect overall perception of the room.
Design: Nadezhda ZотовaMaterial of Manufacture
Different materials are used today for making dining tables. The best choice is one made from natural wood, its natural texture, durability, and even smell leave good impressions. However, wooden tables are the most expensive.
Design: Viktoria ZolinaToday there are fashionable tables made of plastic, wear-resistant and very practical, easy to keep clean. Shiny surfaces reflect artificial lighting or sunlight, making the kitchen brighter. Plastic tables in an original shape look organically with modern interiors.

Increasingly popular are glass table tops. Extremely easy to maintain surfaces add light and air to a small space. Concerns that glass easily breaks are unfounded. Table tops are made from impact-resistant glass. Often there are glass surfaces decorated with patterns, relief, matte, colored, enhancing the kitchen interior with elegance and lightness.

Even if the kitchen area is small, there is always an opportunity to choose the most suitable dining table variant – shape, size, color, construction. A precisely chosen choice of such an important piece of furniture will add charm to the smallest room, create a cozy atmosphere and delight owners every day.
