How to Secure Your Home During New Year Holidays: 5 Tips
Follow these tips to worry-free holidays
The number of thefts and fires increases during New Year holidays. We recommend paying attention to safety rules and setting up protective equipment in advance to protect your home from anything that could ruin your favorite winter holidays.
1. Protect Your Home from Theft
The majority of apartment thefts occur during New Year holidays. Install a basic security system consisting of a control panel, door opening sensor, and motion sensors – and your home will be reliably protected from unauthorized entry.
Even if you forget to activate the security mode while away visiting friends or traveling, it's easy to fix with a couple of clicks in the mobile app. At any time, you can check in on your home and ensure everything is fine by requesting photos from the motion sensors through the smartphone app.

Most New Year fires occur due to short circuits in the wiring. During holidays, constantly running household appliances and illuminated decorations significantly increase the load on the electrical system. Try not to turn on several high-power devices at once, as this can cause a short circuit.
If you notice damage in a socket, smell something suspicious, or hear strange sounds from the electrical system – call an electrician immediately. Using such devices is dangerous, so it's better to replace them with new ones or repair them right away.

What if a fire starts anyway? A smoke detector installed at home will immediately react to smoke and warn of the danger of a fire, while the built-in siren attracts attention from household members and neighbors.
If you have multiple bedrooms, it's advisable to install at least one smoke detector in each room. Smart devices can exchange information with each other: if one device triggers, it will send data to all others installed in the house.

4. Properly Install and Decorate the Christmas Tree
Whether to choose a live or artificial tree is up to you, but there are specific requirements for where to place it.
The main element of the New Year holiday should not be placed near radiators or other heating devices. It's better to decorate the tree with glass ornaments, preferably non-breakable ones, and avoid paper or plastic decorations. Do not decorate the floor under the tree with cotton or candles – this increases the risk of fire.

5. Monitor Home Safety When Away
With a smart socket, you can control household appliances from anywhere with internet access. This is not only safe but also very convenient: a forgotten iron won't spoil the holiday, and an electric heater turned on in advance will make your arrival at a country house more comfortable.
A smart socket allows you to create an illusion of presence, which reduces the risk of unauthorized entry. When going on vacation, set a schedule to turn lights on and off in an empty house – this can serve as an additional safety measure during New Year holidays.
