Toilet with Installation: Photos in Interior

This page is also available in the following languages:🇷🇺🇺🇦🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇵🇱🇨🇳
Not even 10 years ago, a toilet with installation was a rarity, available only in high-end hotels. Today, they are installed in bathrooms of apartments and houses because it's convenient and beautiful.

Features of Construction

If you have the idea to install a toilet with installation, photos in interior might cause confusion — how can such a fragile-looking structure support a person? On what does it stand?

Nowhere. The secret of reliability lies in the specifics of installation. There is no conventional mounting foot for a toilet, but there is a stable solid frame, usually made of steel or another high-strength material. It is attached to the wall or floor (additionally), creating an illusion of a suspended bowl — because the frame is hidden behind a 'false' wall.

The flush tank and all drainage components are hidden in the same place — for this, a recess of at least 20 centimeters must be made in the wall to accommodate all necessary utilities.

Access to the flush tank (which may be needed, for example, for repair or technical maintenance) is provided through a flush button mounted on the wall above the toilet. The presence of a button hole is essential, so that water can be shut off or minor repairs to fastening elements and accessible utilities can be carried out.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Wall-Mounted Toilets

Traditionally, let's start with the merits:

  • Aesthetics. If we're talking about design, aesthetics should be placed first. All unnecessary elements for a beautiful interior are hidden behind the wall, and only the toilet bowl is visible. The visual effect of 'floating' above the floor creates a sense of lightness. This solution can significantly transform the bathroom design.

  • Convenience of Cleaning. Undoubtedly a plus. There is open space under the toilet, accessible for washing not only floors but also walls — this is convenient and hygienic.

  • Laying tiles on the floor becomes the simplest task — there's no need to cut them out for the toilet foot, just lay tiles on the floor.

  • Space Saving. A toilet with installation, photos of which are included in this article, suits small spaces where every square centimeter counts. In some cases, it's the only solution that can be accepted.

  • Quiet Operation. Since the flush tank is hidden in the wall, the drain causes less noise and inconvenience. If the wall is also insulated with soundproofing materials, it won't be heard at all.

Now about the drawbacks:

  • Installation requires professional involvement. Precise calculations and time are needed to ensure that the structure is not only beautiful but also performs its intended functions. If the renovation is in a bathroom with a standard toilet and foot, the drainage system must be redone. Therefore, wall-mounted installations are usually installed in new buildings or after major renovations.

  • All utilities hidden in the wall are not so easy to repair. This can be balanced by good installation quality, if choosing models with a large flush button, through which it is easier to access the drainage equipment. A small button will force part of the wall to be removed.

How to Choose a Toilet with Installation

The main question is how to choose a toilet with installation so that it meets quality requirements and complements the design concept?

Among a wide range of toilets on the Russian market, products from German and Italian manufacturers have gained popularity. In the medium price range, demand is satisfied by offers from Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

The only element that can be evaluated visually is the bowl of a wall-mounted toilet. For those who pursue aesthetic goals, the choice of the bowl is of main importance. They differ by several types.

  • Shape. On the sanitary engineering market, both familiar oval models and rectangles, squares, and even polyhedrons are available. The choice of shape depends on the planned bathroom design and room size. Small rooms suit bowls with streamlined shapes.

  • Color. This segment also offers variety. Classic white is offered by almost all manufacturers. There are black and even red models, as well as pastel shades. If needed, it is possible to agree with the manufacturer for any custom color.

  • Material. Here too: from traditional ceramics and porcelain to steel and even glass. The modern material is polymer concrete, which is very durable, just like its 'partner' — liquid marble.

  • Size. A wall-mounted toilet can look quite miniature, and its dimensions indeed allow placing such toilets in small bathrooms, but one can easily be fooled. It's essential to measure everything before visiting a plumbing store.

  • Functionality. For those who plan to additionally buy a bidet, there are special 'mixed' models where the toilet is combined with a bidet. If two separate units are chosen, they can be installed on one installation, which looks harmonious and correct.

  • Quality Certificates. Today, various manufacturers of wall-mounted toilets offer their services, but the warranty distinguishes reliable companies from fraudsters. It is essential to check relevant documents before making a choice.

  • Flush Type. Specialists recommend choosing a circular flush to preserve the hygiene of the bowl.

  • Flush Button. It can be connected to the overall plumbing system — this is the most reliable option and will last several years without problems. A little more about the drainage system — the number of buttons. A two-button system is aimed at water conservation — the large button empties the tank completely, while the small one partially. There are also models with double press, where the second action stops the water flow.

Installation of Equipment

A wall-mounted toilet is beautiful and convenient, but not suitable for every apartment due to installation specifics. Today, specialists install the structure in two ways.

  • Block Type

The block method involves a flush tank with mounting and two studs attached to the toilet. Installation in this way can only be done on load-bearing walls.

  • Frame Type

The frame method involves a special structure that can be installed in load-bearing walls and other partitions, even those built by oneself. Using this method, it is possible to install a sink and bidet with one installation, without relying on load-bearing walls, which opens more opportunities for design.

Repair of Toilet with Installation

Quality repair determines the design of a toilet with installation. There is an opinion that due to the wall-mounted mechanism, repairs are easier and it's simpler to choose finishing materials, as a flat floor and harmonious wall decoration without a tank look much better.

  • Floor

The best option for floor repair is ceramic tiles. Their quality characteristics suit the features of a bathroom environment perfectly. They are resistant to moisture, durable, and easy to maintain.

Today, the selection on the construction material market is so vast that tiles can be chosen for any taste and interior. From standard glazed monochrome surfaces to tiles with patterns and wood-like designs. Photos of real projects demonstrate all the advantages of ceramic tiles on bathroom floors.

  • Walls

In wall decoration, ceramic tiles also take the first place. But along with them, there can be a choice between special moisture-resistant wallpapers, bathroom decoration with stone or wooden panels. The choice is based on the interior chosen for the bathroom and the owner's taste preferences.

  • Ceiling

The bathroom ceiling can be installed in a suspended way or simply painted with water-emulsion paint. Some choose gypsum board or panels.

The design of a toilet with installation usually adapts to the overall look of an apartment or house. The choice of stylistic directions is not limited, and any of the main styles can be chosen: European, classical, high-tech, modern, or Provence — any. The desired interior is created using finishing materials and accessories. Photos of toilets with installation will help make a choice in favor of a more familiar and acceptable style.

Wall-Mounted Toilet in a Small Bathroom

Experts believe that wall-mounted toilets are the perfect choice for small bathrooms. There is no foot that steals precious centimeters of floor space, and there's no bulky tank — the structure looks neat and stylish. To 'smooth out' the impression of insufficient square meters, one can use the following rules for decoration:

Design: Loven SkoldDesign: Loven Skold
  • Light colors in the interior and finishing — it is known that they visually expand space, an ideal solution is a white bathroom or any pastel shade;

  • Proper lighting — artificial light should be moderately bright to avoid the feeling of an 'operating room,' for small spaces, point lights that are built into walls and ceilings can be chosen.

To make a bathroom cozy and stylish, even minimal decor is enough. Cute laundry baskets and towels, shelves where artificial flowers or fragrant candles can be placed — all this creates the right atmosphere.
