Peaceful Interior with Trendy Accents: Beach House in America

This elegant two-story home interior on the outskirts of Salt Lake City was created by a team of American designers and decorators from Studio McGee, who have been successfully operating under the guidance of young couple McGee – Sid and Shea. 

The home's living room, kitchen, bedroom, and three children's rooms create an impression of a perfect and very expensive space. However, upon closer inspection, one can discover unconventional, fresh, and quite affordable solutions that can be appropriately used in any traditional interior. 

Shea, the main inspirational force behind Studio McGee, is a big fan of modern classicism and coastal look – the style of American beach houses. In this project, several characteristic elements typical for cozy beach houses can be found: sandy tones, worn-effect carpets, wicker boxes and baskets, linen and cotton. Almost all furniture, lighting, and decor, from beds to books and towel holders, were selected in McGee & Co – another project of the couple. 

Besides the impeccable living room and kitchen, the children's rooms in the house are beautifully decorated with extra space. In one of them, designers included a hidden micro-room. It is 100% a girl's space with sentimental wallpapers and a touching dollhouse inside. They even planned a tea table for afternoon tea, just like adults.

To make the home’s interior brighter, designers diluted the subdued background with stylish decor and interesting techniques, the boldest of which is mixing different metals. In this project, Studio McGee "brought together" gold, aged brass, and nickel that appears occasionally – all in warm tones that blend perfectly with each other, and they also added black metal. However, according to Shea, it pairs well with any color and texture.

An important element of the home’s atmosphere is flowers. Decorators from the American design studio use branches of lavender, rosemary, and fern in almost all their projects. They are convinced that without plants in elegant vases and planters, it's impossible to create a cozy home atmosphere. It seems they can be trusted!
