In a Swedish apartment from the end of the 1920s in one of Stockholm's central districts, fragments of the original interior were preserved and maintained with vintage furniture and accessories.

The décor of this apartment, covering nearly 39 square meters, is in the style of the past. Nostalgic atmosphere here comes not only from unique interior doors, retro radiators, and double-glazed windows – the interior was delicately completed with modern finishes and carefully selected furniture.

The walls of the living room and bedroom area were painted blue. This shade – called St. Paul´s Blue – is very popular among Scandinavian designers. The kitchen was left white, and the hallway became softly pink.

To make the space harmonize with the rest of the interior, cushions, a throw, and paintings in tones close to the pink color were added to the living room and kitchen. The floor throughout the apartment is covered with pine boards lacquered.

Originally, a sleeping area was not planned in the layout of this apartment: the wall with sliding doors, which allowed organizing a nearly full-size bedroom (with a window) as a separate room, appeared only recently. The bed is placed in a bay window, and the wardrobe was also fitted into this space, all done in a classic style.

White kitchen cabinets reaching the ceiling with brass handles, a solid oak countertop, and square tiles perfectly complement the old door between the kitchen and hallway. Using small-sized white square tiles on the kitchen or bathroom floors is not a new idea, but it’s a very successful one: this way, you can keep almost any interior style affordable and tasteful.

This apartment is very comfortable for living, despite its modest dimensions. Even though details that have survived from the end of the distant 1920s dictate their own rules for decoration, these rules are not overly strict: modern touches and ultra-modern accents also find their place in this interior.
