How to Use the Balcony for Storing Seasonal Items

First of all, you need to decide what exactly you want to store on the balcony: clothes, shoes, or sports equipment. It's better if you understand this during renovation, so you can plan the right storage system that will help keep order in your home.

1. A Small Wardrobe in the End Wall

If you want to mainly use the balcony for relaxation rather than storage, and extra items don't bother you too much, a small hanging wardrobe made to order might be enough. The contents will depend on what you're planning to store in it. For example, for shoes, internal ventilation needs to be considered.

2. Bicycle Mounting Hardware

A bicycle is very convenient to store vertically: it fits perfectly into the end of a standard balcony and can even decorate it. You just need to buy reliable mounting hardware.

3. Wardrobe for Outerwear

If you have a lot of clothes and not enough storage space in the apartment, a wardrobe on the balcony becomes a lifesaver. To make full use of every square centimeter of space, wardrobes are usually built into the wall niche with minimal clearance, and shelves are designed for each item of storage.

4. Desk with Shelves and Drawers

If you plan to insulate the balcony to turn it into a home office, make sure you can work comfortably and have all necessary documents or reference materials within reach. Some papers can be stored in the drawers of the desk, others – in closed shelves or boxes on an open rack.

5. Bench with Drawers

Items that don't need to be hung on hangers can be folded into drawers, which also serve as a bench or lounge. These drawers are convenient for storing sports clothes or shoes, picnic supplies, and various other items related to leisure.
