Paint for Wall Finishing

When painting walls in a wooden house, I recommend choosing fresh tones that will make your home feel brighter. Consider mint or lavender shades for the walls. Avoid bright, pure colors.

If you're absolutely against paint, you can artificially age one of the walls or the ceiling. This will give your space new textures.

Stairs are often the most unnoticed elements in a house's architecture. But you can turn them into one of the favorite spots for family members: for example, use the walls and space under the stairs to create a library.

For filling empty spaces, paintings, posters, or family photos work perfectly. You can style them in various frames and hang many of them. Alternate between small and large formats.

If you enjoy collecting items, use your exhibits: hats or vintage racquets look unusual and stylish.

When thinking of a country house, a green garden immediately comes to mind. To surround yourself with plants all year round, consider vertical gardens (fitosteny). For those not ready for such an extravagant decoration, I suggest hanging pots with trailing plants on the walls.

Many homeowners wonder if there is an alternative to traditional brick and tile fireplace finishing.

If you have leftover tiles of various types, don't throw them away. Break them into small pieces and use them to lay the fireplace. This will create a unique pattern that will delight the eye for years.

When decorating a veranda, choose textiles in light, subdued tones that merely accentuate the shape but do not draw too much attention. After all, the most important thing is what you see through the window.

There are no restrictions on form: Roman blinds, venetian blinds, sheer curtains, or drapes — choose what you like best.

Non-Standard Zoning

Everyone knows how to highlight a specific area using carpets or partitions. But what about zoning with finishing? Non-standard jointing of floor coverings (e.g., tiles and solid wood planks) works well for the kitchen or bathroom.

A sloped or mansard roof is not a reason to turn the room into a storage space. Place children's or guest rooms under the roof. Beds in niches will be isolated from three sides, and you can add warmth with textiles.

A bathroom in a wooden house doesn't have to be tiled. Combine different textures: for the floor, choose ceramic tiles in a colorful mat pattern, and paint the walls in various colors. This way, the wooden room won't look monotonous.

More Light

The main problem of wooden houses is insufficient lighting. In an apartment, one chandelier might be enough for the room's lighting. With the same setup in a house, there will be many dark corners.

Use wall sconces, table lamps, and floor lamps: they will create additional warmth in the evening.
