Of course, you can buy a Christmas tree on December 31st and set the table at the last minute. But we prefer to plan details in advance and create a holiday mood right now. We suggest you do the same.

To make the holiday special and memorable, it's not just about the company but also the atmosphere around you. Without a beautiful Christmas tree and glowing garlands — nowhere. We tell you about the most important steps of preparation that you need to finish before New Year.

1. Do a Deep Clean

We often see New Year as an opportunity to start life with a clean slate. So, find time for a deep clean of your home during the pre-New Year rush. Get rid of items you haven't used in a long time, organize your wardrobes and shelves. Don't know where to start or how to tackle the cleaning? Use tips from Marie Kondo – a well-known lover of order and author of the book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up".

2. Decorate the Rooms

Create a festive atmosphere throughout your home — good mood will be ensured every day. It's not necessary to hang numerous garlands on windows, scatter snowmen around the house or glue snowflakes onto glass. A few beautiful Christmas ornaments on a shelf, retro garlands in the hallway, and a couple of candles in stylish candleholders will be enough — focus on quality, not quantity.

3. Decorate the Christmas Tree

Every year designers come up with more and more alternatives to the traditional Christmas tree: wall art, made from branches, or metal frames. But can they compare to the classic full Christmas tree that you can decorate as a family? Perhaps you have retro ornaments passed down from your grandmother or souvenirs bought on vacation – use them for decoration. Interesting to see ornaments in one color palette — choose what speaks to your heart.

4. Plan the Table Setting

If you're celebrating New Year with family or friends, now is the time to think about the menu and table setting. Agree, ordinary dishes and tablecloths won't do here. First of all, decide on a color palette and stick to it throughout: in the setting, napkin design, and decoration.

If you have time, do a rehearsal: arrange plates, glasses, decorate the table with clear vases filled with Christmas ornaments inside, and place candles. Happy? Then all you need to do is repeat the setup on New Year's Eve.

5. Bake Gingerbread Cookies

What New Year preparation is complete without baking? Gingerbread cookies are a perfect choice: you can delight guests with them and use them as decoration. For this, make a hole in the cookie for a string so that these lovely little treats can be hung on the tree or attached to wrapped gifts.

6. Wrap Gifts

No matter how desired the gift is for the recipient, it shouldn’t be given without packaging. Lack of time is just an excuse. Modern trends are on our side: the packaging can be modest but must be tastefully done. Take some brown craft paper and a piece of twine. For decoration, use spruce or gingerbread cookies.
