Rules for Choosing Wallpaper

1. Test the wallpaper on the wall.

The main challenge in buying wallpaper is visualizing the pattern from a sample roll on a wall in your room. First, don’t view the wallpaper in the rolled-up packaging—unroll it 1–2 meters. You can attach a sample piece to the wall, step back a few meters, and view it from a distance. Second, purchase a sample roll and apply it directly to your room walls at home—this way, you can fully assess whether the wallpaper fits. Another option is using a wallpaper mirror or display stand, where you can hang your chosen roll and see a reflection of the future wall with wallpaper.

2. Choose wallpapers from the same collection.

Designers from many manufacturers have already done the work for you, carefully pairing wallpapers that harmonize within one collection. Typically, a collection includes several solid-color options and several patterned ones. All wallpapers in a collection complement each other perfectly. You can safely experiment with design without making mistakes. Naturally, wallpapers from the same collection are best chosen if you plan to combine different shades and patterns.

3. Properly combine patterns and colors.

Select the combination that best suits your taste and matches your chosen room: solid-colored wallpapers with patterned ones, different patterns, varying shades, and more.

4. Match the wallpaper type to each room.

This doesn’t mean you must use different patterns in each room, but that several wallpaper types exist, and some suit certain rooms better than others. For example, it’s well known that in children’s rooms and bedrooms, breathable paper-based or eco-friendly wallpapers are preferable because they are safe for the body. On the other hand, vinyl wallpapers on a non-woven (fleece) base are best used only in well-ventilated spaces where you spend little time.

5. Carefully review the certificate.

Certified vinyl wallpapers undergo testing and meet hygiene standards. If you have doubts about the safety of the wallpaper, it’s best to request the certificate.
