Comfortable Bedroom: 8 Secrets You Didn't Know About
Have you ever thought about what you do in the bedroom every day? Just sleep – or also get ready for work in the morning and tidy up? Read books and watch movies in the evening? Iron clothes and pick out outfits for outings? Or maybe work? The full answer to the question about the functionality of the bedroom will determine the quality of life in this room and its appearance – which is also very important for quality of life. Designer Ekaterina Popova created a small "questionnaire" to help you clearly imagine and then decorate your ideal bedroom.
In this article, we decided to help those who want to transform their bedroom and share recommendations that will help create a specific task for the designer and achieve the desired interior. All you need is five minutes of your time, a little patience, and careful analysis of your own life and habits. Let's begin...
1. Comfort Zone
The most important thing is to understand whether you use this space only for sleep or during the day like to rest, read and so on. This will determine the placement of furniture in the bedroom. Define which items of furnishings are functionally more important than others. Find priority places for them with good natural lighting, convenient access, and no drafts.

2. Vanity Table
This question is particularly relevant for designing bedrooms for women and families. Some are used to putting on makeup and doing their hair in front of a mirror in the bathroom or another room, while others prefer a cozy corner with a vanity table for these purposes. For some, it's simply important to have a small dresser or large drawer in the wardrobe for cosmetics. In any case, it's important to think about this: maybe you're used to putting on makeup in front of a small mirror, but have always dreamed of your own bathroom with a large vanity?

3. Wardrobe, Closet or Dresser?
There's a lot that depends on the space size. A wardrobe and standalone closet suit small bedrooms, but if there's enough room, a spacious and structured storage for clothes is better – to give each item of clothing its own section. The entrance to the wardrobe should ideally be from the bedroom. Many clients additionally choose a dresser for storing underwear and small items, which can also be a bright and functional accent in the interior.

4. TV in the Bedroom
The most important thing is to understand if a TV is even needed in the bedroom. Perhaps it's better to do without it for healthy sleep. But for many, evening TV watching or films on a large screen is pleasant entertainment. In this case, you should definitely consider the size of the screen, placement of the monitor, and space for a stereo system. By the way, a good stereo system and original speakers can also add extra charm to your bedroom.

5. The Perfect Bed
When choosing the main element of the bedroom, in addition to aesthetic considerations, I recommend paying attention to three important aspects: mattress size, headboard material, and bed frame.
Matress Size
You can choose a standard mattress 160-180 cm wide or an oversized one at 2 meters or more. These preferences are strictly individual, but you should consider your height and weight. Also, keep in mind that finding bedding for an oversized mattress will require additional effort and time in the future.
Headboard
Do you like to have breakfast or read while sitting in bed? This will determine the material of the headboard covering. You should also clarify whether removable covers for pillows are planned – this information is important for the designer.
Bed Frame
If it's upholstered in fabric, it's better if the material can be removed for cleaning. If the frame is made of wood, it's important that the color of the frame matches other furniture items.

6. Color Palette
What color do you want to see when opening your eyes every morning? Color affects our perception of temperature in the room: cool light tones will make the space seem more "cool," while warm and vibrant shades will add a few extra degrees. If you don't have color preferences at the moment, I recommend looking at the combination of apple red and burgundy. A mix of warm and cool color palettes helps relax and makes sleep more comfortable.

7. Light Protection
Think about where you need additional lighting in the room. Lamps, wall sconces, and dimmable light options – all these elements should be used when setting up a bedroom. But remember: the main purpose of a bedroom is to provide a chance for restful sleep. Only complete darkness triggers the production of melatonin, which helps the body recover physically. Therefore, it's important to ensure quality light protection from outside: blackout curtains or blinds that won't let in any light while you're sleeping.

8. Floor Covering
This depends not only on aesthetic preferences but also on the characteristics of your body. If you have a tendency to allergies, I don't recommend using carpeting. If choosing between laminate and parquet (parquet boards), those with sensitive sleep should prefer the latter – wooden floors are quieter.

Of course, there are many more details and nuances in bedroom setup, but these will need to be addressed at the next stage of work. I hope my recommendations help you clearly imagine your bedroom and help the designer better understand your wishes, so in the end you get the bedroom of your dreams!
