How to Easily Wash Windows: 5 Useful Tips
We pay for airline tickets with one click and communicate with friends living in another hemisphere using modern technologies. But windows still have to be washed by hand. In our selection - tips on how to simplify and speed up the process of washing glass. And also make it safe - because work is often done at great heights. Among the ways to quickly get windows in order, there are both traditional grandmother's recipes and advanced technical innovations!
1. Choose the Right Time and Organize Your Space
Do not wash glass on a sunny day - water will dry too quickly, leaving dirty streaks. Wait for at least evening or a cloudy day.
When starting to wash windows, clear the space around. Remove decor from the windowsill and move flower pots away. Make sure there are no open outlets or powered electrical appliances nearby.

2. Use the Right Cleaning Agents
Regular soapy solution effectively cleans glass. Housewives traditionally use laundry detergent to prepare it. You can add dish soap or special window cleaning products to the bucket of water.
Heavy stains were traditionally removed with starch. This lifehack can and should still be used today when household management becomes more eco-friendly.
A traditional rinse recipe that makes glass shine is adding 9% vinegar or ammonia to clean water. After applying, just dry the glass with a cloth. Another glass conditioner is a mixture of water and glycerin. After applying, dust and grime do not adhere to the glass for a long time.
Soda should not be used, as well as other abrasive agents. They leave microscopic scratches on glass and frames, which easily collect dirt over time, reducing visibility and appearance.

3. Choose Modern Tools and Equipment
While natural cleaning agents can be used, the tools for wiping have advanced significantly. Two cloths are no longer enough. Use sponges of different hardness for applying soapy foam and microfiber cloths to dry windows. The finishing polish with newspapers is still popular, but paper towels are more convenient.
Very popular are brushes with rubber scrapers and foam rollers, so-called "squeegees" or "scrapers": they neatly collect dirty foam on large glass surfaces in one motion. A long telescopic handle (up to two meters) helps avoid many unnecessary movements with ladders or stools. And of course, it's safe to reach external sides of window glass at great heights.

4. Follow the Proper Technique
First, dissolve dirt in a large amount of soapy foam (carefully, don't splash water on wall trim or neighbors' walls!). If there is too much dust on the windows, brush it off with a wide brush, a brush or dry cloth before applying the soapy solution. Professionals vacuum such windows immediately.
After foaming, use a squeegee to collect the foam from top to bottom or horizontally with overlap to avoid gaps. Wipe frames, wash seals and drainage channels in the lower part of profiles.
Dry frames and glass with microfiber cloths or paper towels. If necessary, add a rinse with vinegar or glycerin - and again dry the glass with cloths.

5. Use Gadgets and Call Professionals
Automatic window washers have recently appeared on the market - they look like handheld vacuum cleaners and work on the same principle: spray onto glass from a sprayer, and smart technology collects dirty water and dries the surface. The device works three times faster than a householder by hand. And it's relatively inexpensive.
Another device mainly used by professionals is telescopic pole systems. The final length of the brush handle through which water flows can exceed 10 meters. Professionals use these brushes to wash windows at height - while standing on the ground.
These systems can be used in households if you live in an apartment with panoramic glazing on a high floor, and you simply cannot reach many panes. The downside of such equipment is the extremely high cost when used infrequently. Sometimes it's easier to call a team of industrial climbers to wash your windows from the outside. True, this doesn't replace the need to clean from inside. Therefore, our quite traditional recommendations will always be useful!
