Modern Living Room with Fireplace. Variety of Fireplaces for Any Conditions
Those wishing to create a living room interior with a fireplace will surely be found not only among happy owners of private homes, but also among residents of urban apartments. Fortunately, options for safely placing a fireplace in even small apartments are available.

Living room design with an electric fireplace. The ideal option for city dwellers where a traditional wood-burning or even gas fireplace cannot be installed due to technical limitations. Of course, it is not a real fire. However, today's electric fireplace manufacturers offer impressive features. The "drawn" flame now not only fully imitates a live one but often also performs the traditional heating function and can even produce characteristic sounds.
An electric fireplace is easy to install and maintain, has a relatively low price, and does not require additional permits for installation.

Living room with a bio-fireplace. A new term in fireplace engineering – bio-fireplaces. They operate on clean alcohol, so they do not require a chimney or additional room ventilation, and they produce no soot or ash. Additionally, such bio-fireplaces can be decorated in the most interesting ways, guided by your imagination. Particularly harmonious with minimalist, high-tech, loft, and modern styles.

Its advantages:
- relatively low cost of the fireplace itself;
- ecological friendliness;
- easy installation and no chimney required;
- air humidification;
- no permits needed.
At the same time, there are significant disadvantages:
- high cost of fuel (1 liter of bio-ethanol lasts 2-2.5 hours);
- odor of alcohol during ignition;
- not a heating appliance;
- requires adherence to safety rules.

Living room with a gas fireplace. A gas fireplace can be considered a transitional link between a wood-burning fireplace and an electric one. On one hand, it is a full-fledged fireplace with live flames and heating effect; on the other, minimal maintenance is required, and there is almost no ash or soot. It's more environmentally friendly and cheaper to maintain than wood-burning fireplaces. A gas fireplace no longer requires logs or storage space, but a chimney is still necessary.
There is one caveat – a permit is required to install a gas fireplace, and it makes sense only in apartments or country homes with municipal gas supply. Additionally, it requires connection to gas pipelines and is not autonomous.

Living room design with a wood-burning fireplace. Despite newer and more convenient types of fireplaces, the classic wood-burning fireplace is still popular. Actually, not just logs are used for fireplaces, but also coal, pellets, and even peat. Such a fireplace produces much more heat, which is well-suited for large country homes.
For urban apartments, such a high-heat element is simply unnecessary, not to mention the complexity of installation and maintenance in city conditions. Besides these drawbacks, there are others – a space is needed to store firewood, constant care is required for the fireplace, and installing a live flame hearth is not cheap.
Still, it's hard not to admit that the cozy crackling of a live fire cannot be compared with modern alternatives.
