The Fattahlung House is a private cottage located in Tambon Tha Khe, Thailand, designed by architect Rakchai Noratedilok. The owner, who has lived in Bangkok for many years, decided to return to her hometown and build a private space connected with the family estate. The location is surrounded by a tranquil humus plantation, and the new house is designed to facilitate the connection between the plantation and the kitchen of the old house.

The main functions of the house are living room, bedroom and bathroom. The building is oriented East-West to avoid heat from the sun and ensure good air circulation in accordance with the tropical climate. The living room and bedroom are separated only by a TV partition, allowing light and air to circulate freely throughout the space. The bathroom is designed without a ceiling to create an atmosphere where users can feel connected with nature through tree branches or moonlight above their heads.

After more than 20 years of living in Bangkok, the owner decided to return to her hometown Fattahlung in southern Thailand and fulfill her desire to create a private space expanding the inherited family estate. The estate, built decades ago, is located in the middle of a humus plantation and serves as a place for annual family gatherings.

The location is surrounded by a peaceful humus plantation reflecting the local agricultural community. The site for constructing the new house is located between the plantation and the kitchen of the old house, which is usually used for family events. Therefore, to create a connection between the houses and the plantation, the new house is designed to facilitate continuity from the old house's kitchen to the plantation landscape through a spacious interior of the new house.

The main functions of the new house are living room, bedroom and bathroom. The building orientation is directed East-West, with the wardrobe and bathroom located on the eastern and western sides respectively, while the main part in the middle is for avoiding heat from the sun and ensuring good ventilation according to tropical climate. For privacy, a wooden partition with a diagonal pattern is also installed, comfortably affecting vision.

The living room and bedroom are separated only by a TV partition, allowing light and air to flow freely throughout the space. The bathroom is designed without a ceiling to create an atmosphere where users can feel connected with nature through tree branches or moonlight above their heads.

The design focuses on using materials that harmonize with the natural environment, efficient use of fewer materials and preference for revealing the nature of materials. The main walls and floor are covered with smooth raw plaster coating. Black-painted steel structure is used for the roof. Wooden flooring is also applied to express a sense of nature and create a cozy atmosphere.
