K.KRIT Residence | WARchitect | Bangkok, Thailand
Created with the perfect blend of modern design and traditional Feng Shui principles, the K.KRIT Residence by WARchitect presents an impressive private home located on Charoen Krung Road in Bangkok, Thailand. This 490 sqm house, designed for the well-known news anchor Krit, achieves a rare harmonious balance between functionality, privacy, style, and cultural sensitivity.
A Home Reflecting Personality and Philosophy
The homeowner envisioned a modern, masculine sanctuary — a space that balances solitude, security, and social life, while strictly adhering to Feng Shui principles. WARchitect took this concept on board, developing the house layout where every detail — from bed orientation to room placement — respects ancient spatial traditions.
Instead of placing the bedroom above the garage (which contradicts Feng Shui principles), architects transformed the garage roof into a private outdoor party terrace, accessible via an external staircase. This solution maintains the integrity of the floor plan and makes the space functionally engaging — guests can enjoy rooftop events without entering private areas of the home.
As a bold move, the terrace directly interacts with the pool below, creating opportunities for surprises and fun. Guests can even jump from the terrace into the pool — turning Feng Shui restrictions into architectural possibilities.
Design That Harmonizes with Nature and Family
The heart of the house is a multi-functional living room, acting as a connecting element between family zones. Sliding walls open up to a peaceful courtyard with a large tree, pool, and direct view of the parents' house, strengthening familial bonds.
Vertical spatial connections further integrate architecture. The brother's room connects through an open aperture to a hidden garden terrace, concealed behind the grid facade screen. Morning sunlight filters through steel slats, creating dynamic patterns on interior walls and reflecting off the pool surface — a living light show that animates the space.
Privacy and Protection Through Facade
Following Feng Shui principles, Krit's bedroom had to face the front of the plot next to a public road — this posed a privacy and security issue. Solution? A custom-designed steel grid facade system. This system not only provides visual protection but also offers a level of privacy from the adjacent terrace.
The slats vary in depth — deeper and denser on the road-facing side, for protection, while smaller slats on the opposite side allow natural light and views from outside. More than a functional element, this black steel cladding adds a unique playful character to the minimalist black structure, perfectly reflecting Krit's vibrant personality.
