The Mate House, designed by the architectural studio Araujo Galván Arquitectos, is a country house located south of Guadalajara in Mexico. The architectural concept of the house is based on geometric forms, with a central corridor and enclosed garden providing privacy for interior spaces.

The layout and volumetric structure of the house are executed using clean orthogonal lines. Interior spaces are designed with a strong visual connection to surrounding finishes. The entrance terrace, kitchen and living room are located at the front of the house, creating an open and unified space when doors are opened.

The Mate House is located on a plot south of the city of Guadalajara. It represents a country house where geometry plays a key role, uniting the project through a corridor with an enclosed central garden that serves as a reliable source of privacy for each interior space.

The layout and volumetric architecture are executed using orthogonal lines. Interior spaces imply constant interaction with visual finishes. At the front of the house is an entrance terrace, kitchen and living room that connect to the entry area. When doors are opened they form a unified space.

The main bedroom is connected to the terrace via an external corridor. The room is isolated and uses spatial fluidity of double height and views to one of the side gardens. Inside the main bedroom is a walk-in closet and study with double height views and an en-suite bathroom. At the center of the building is a central garden with a concrete pool and private terrace with a fireplace, uniting the modules of the project.

At the back of the plot is the core of rooms, where three are on the first floor and three on the second. Privacy is always prioritized, with the first floors hidden by wooden inserts, and rooms on the second floor open through a staircase and corridor at the back of the building. This space features a terrace with rustic stone masonry, flower pots and trees, creating harmony with the polished concrete surrounding it.

Regarding landscape design, we aimed to preserve existing vegetation and incorporated roots from dry trunks belonging to the homeowners, with the purpose of creating art objects.

Project materials are reduced to walls covered in polished cement and wood, marble parquet flooring and granite details, allowing solid volumes to become the main accents of the house. The Mate House is located on a plot south of Guadalajara, representing a country house where geometry plays a key role in uniting the project through a corridor with an enclosed central garden, which serves as a reliable source of privacy for each interior space.
