Lo Curro House by Nicolas Lo
The Lo Curro House, designed by architect Nicolas Lo, is located in the residential area of Santiago, Chile with an excellent view of the city. The lower level of the house presents a continuous space including family area, living room, dining room, kitchen and internal courtyard, while bedrooms are located on the first floor and a rooftop terrace is at the top of the house.
The design emphasizes simplicity in form, with a rectangle as the main shape, and highlights the use of various materials such as concrete, wood and metal cladding to give the design expressiveness. The goal is to achieve a balance between abstract and natural, using simple and abstract geometry but building it with soft materials that create a connection with users.

The house is located in the Lo Curro area of Santiago, Chile. The neighborhood features hills and forests with a beautiful view of the city of Santiago. The design strategy is based on a rectangle measuring 7 x 25 meters placed over an existing parking area.
The lower level of the house presents a continuous space containing family area, living room, dining room, kitchen and internal courtyard. Bedrooms are located on the first floor, and at the top of the house is a terrace.
The design aims to be as simple in form as possible – a rectangle – and emphasizes structure and materials. Various materials are used: concrete, wood, metal cladding and others to give the design intention and expressiveness.
The design aims to achieve a balance between abstract and natural; using the simplest and most abstract geometry, but building it with soft materials that create a connection with users.
There is also an intention to emphasize the basic geometry of the house, represented by three axes: vertical, horizontal and depth, as a natural position of the human body in nature (vertical posture, horizontal, depth of walking), with nature represented by the use of raw materials to achieve a balance between abstract construction and natural environment.
