LANWUU IMAGINE by Aurora Design: The Decisive Combination of Photography, Emotions and Incomplete Design
LANWUU IMAGINE, designed by Aurora Design in Kunming, is a photography studio that redefines space through the lens of memories, beauty, and time. The studio spans 4305 square feet and provides an immersive environment for wedding photography, portrait sessions, and ceremonies, embodying the brand's philosophy of capturing moments that are fleeting yet eternal.
Design Concept: Time·Incomplete
The central idea of the project is incompleteness—a poetic reflection of the tension between the ephemeral present and the unknown future. Aurora Design brought this concept to life in a space that combines construction site aesthetics with elegance. Exposed beams, stainless steel, and raw concrete surfaces coexist with soft fabrics, wood, and warm tones, expressing beauty as something that evolves through imperfection and completion.
Visitors entering the space encounter a contrast play: cold metallic glints and vibrant pink accents, shadows juxtaposed with falling fabric drapes. This intentional ambiguity invites curiosity and encourages exploration of an environment where time, memories, and atmosphere intersect.
Spatial Organization and Flow
The studio is organized around a central core, preserving traces of the original site structure. Functional zones are arranged sequentially:
Registration and Exhibition: Defined by rotating cylindrical forms and semi-closed structures, the entrance creates a smooth flow of movement and emotional connection.
Exhibition Hall: The circular central element at the main entrance serves as an experience hub, where dynamic forms guide both sight and body movement.
Communication / Café-Bar Area: Designed as an informal social point, this area blends hospitality with commercial space. The aroma of coffee enhances the sensory journey while irregular layouts encourage casual conversation.
Fitting and Makeup Rooms: Inspired by Japanese interior design, wooden partitions define private zones with simplicity and comfort.
Photography Zones: Metal stairs and sliding doors delineate transitions between rest and work areas, reflecting the duality of reflection and strength.
Materials and Color Palette
Aurora Design curated a rich palette of materials: stainless steel, concrete gray, natural wood, marble, and fabric. This palette balances futuristic boldness with tactile warmth. White exterior walls interrupted by round windows resembling camera lenses frame the interior like real-time photographs.
The color scheme transitions from white and beige to deep metallic gray, reflecting the brand's emotional journey—moving from clarity and lightness to depth and contemplation. Graffiti accents and reflective surfaces add layers of youthful energy and artistic expression.
Brand Integration: Capture·Beauty
The design philosophy of LANWUU IMAGINE extends beyond functionality. Every space becomes a metaphor for capturing beauty in everyday life—whether it's the bride’s smile, the warmth of a coffee conversation, or light reflecting off polished steel. Round windows resembling lenses, flowing fabrics, and fragmented scenes serve as visual cues for the photograph itself: framing, preserving, and reinterpreting the ordinary.
By combining dynamic architectural gestures with emotional atmosphere, Aurora Design allows visitors to experience beauty as a narrative, unfolding as they move through the studio.
LANWUU IMAGINE is more than a photography studio—it’s a living canvas of an incomplete poetic creation, designed to embrace the flow of time, memories, and creativity. Aurora Design’s approach merges bold material contrasts with gentle human emotions, offering a spatial journey that reflects the essence of photography: capturing moments and preserving them as eternal experiences.
