The Galpon-House is a beautiful modern home located in a Chilean village. Created by the architectural studio 2172 / asociados, this impressive compact house provides approximately 1,290 square feet of minimalist living space with an emphasis on natural lighting and views of the surrounding nature.

The house represents a neutral, temporary artifact; it is not defined by time or technology but rather by the iconographic heritage of the Chilean countryside. The form is simple: a two-story, weather-resistant structure with a gabled wooden roof that efficiently and affordably addresses the project's needs. The site is large, surrounded by pines and features a steep slope leading to a lake.
The artifact is subtly integrated into the landscape, almost like an abandoned structure, striving to become part of nature rather than interrupting it. The form and materials of the house reflect typical farm sheds in rural settings. In contrast, the abstract volume impacts its immediate environment, lifting the site from neutrality and defining its 'front' and 'back,' thereby reorienting it.
Inside, two spaces are created within the shed that provide air, natural light, and spaciousness. The first space is a covered terrace on the ground floor; the second lies above the public areas of the house, forming a central two-story space. Inside the home is minimalist, comfortable, and spacious. The views are expansive, and the connection to the natural environment is seamless. The artifact appears precise, adequate, and correct.
