As a space for rest and relaxation, a double bedroom requires special attention when it comes to decoration. After determining the room size, the next task in any project for decorating this space (even before choosing furniture!) is to select a color palette.

Because the colors we use for decorating our environment significantly influence how we feel in it. For example, blue is associated with calmness and confidence. Green is the color of nature, hope, and health, while orange represents energy and enthusiasm.

Start by Determining the Number of Colors in Your Palette

Which colors cannot be missing in the decoration of a cozy bedroom for a couple? The number of colors can be limited to just one if you want a monochromatic space or create more color variety. For one room, up to 5 colors typically work well.

Select Colors That Will Be Part of Your Palette

If you're unsure how to combine different colors, a color wheel is an excellent tool. This instrument, also known as the color wheel, is a simplified representation of colors perceived by the human eye.

• Primary colors, which are colors that aren't created by mixing other colors. These include: yellow, blue and red;
• Secondary colors are made by mixing two primary colors. These include: green, violet and orange; as well as
• Tertiary colors are formed by mixing a primary color with a secondary one.

It may seem complex at first glance, but the layout of the wheel makes its use quite intuitive. You can choose adjacent colors that are next to each other on the wheel. Or select more contrasting ones and use complementary colors located on opposite sides of the color wheel. Another option is to draw an equilateral triangle to find three additional colors.

It should be noted that white and black do not exist on the color wheel. Therefore, if you want to include both or just one of them in your decor, reserve some space in your palette!

In the color wheel, we find colors in their most vibrant states. But when talking about creating a palette, it's important to mention not just the color but also the tone.

Tone depends on how much light is in that color. The more light, the closer this color gets to white; and the less light — the closer it is to black. Thus, from one color you can create a huge range of shades — from the lightest to the darkest. This allows, for example, decorating a room in one color. Different tones combined provide depth and balance in the room.

In a double bedroom, light tones are important for creating a more relaxed and calm atmosphere. Dark tones can be used both as contrast and to make the environment feel darker. It all depends on the style with which the room will be decorated.
