Valuable tips for arranging a small apartment — take note!

Arranging a small apartment is not an easy task. However, with the right approach and well-thought-out solutions, it's possible to create a space that is not only functional but also cozy. Let's look at simple yet effective techniques applied by designer Elena Sizova in a studio of just 32 sq. m.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteBright tones and natural light
All walls are painted in a light tone — this harmoniously connects all zones of the apartment and visually enlarges the space. The balcony door is left without fabric to ensure maximum natural light entry. This adds a sense of spaciousness and lightness to the room.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteFlooring
Not less important is the flooring. In the main room, vinyl with a tree pattern was laid. The diagonal pattern expands the space, adds dynamics to the interior, and visually increases the area.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteStylish Kitchen
The kitchen plays an important role in every apartment, and in a small one, it must be as functional as possible. In the project, the kitchen is designed with a smooth transition: lower cabinets in dark color are replaced by light upper ones. The apron is made in a medium tone, which visually lightens the upper cabinets and creates a harmonious combination.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteConvenient Storage Solution
Another successful solution was the presence of a storage closet next to the kitchen. Its entrance is closed with a pantry door, which allowed reducing the opening and increasing the wall for placing a two-seater sofa. This creates more space for rest and communication, which is essential in a compact apartment.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteCozy Lounge Area
The same geometric tiles were used on the balcony as in the bathroom, ensuring visual unity and a harmonious transition. A lounge chair and a graphic wall lamp create a cozy spot for relaxation — overall, the space feels relaxed and comfortable.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteAccent Wall
To add texture and color to the interior, an accent wall in the bedroom is decorated with wallpaper featuring dandelions framed with molding. The side frames are also colored — they give the interior an elegant look and highlight pendant lights shaped like pearls. This accent draws attention and adds uniqueness.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteBuilt-in Wardrobe in the Entrance Hall
A key step toward organizing the space is creating a convenient storage area. The built-in wardrobe in the entrance hall for coats and shoes is made to match the wall color, visually reducing its volume and avoiding a cluttered look.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our siteOriginal Mirror in the Bathroom
The main accent in the bathroom is a mirror — always choose something interesting and unusual. A vintage light fixture is also used here, which adds character to the room. Items with history can erase temporal boundaries and create an timeless atmosphere.Photo: small apartment, interior design, 1 room, up to 40 sq. m., Elena Sizova – photo on our site
