Small Studio: 5 Unusual Ideas for Cozy and Beautiful Interior
We found interesting design solutions in a professional apartment that helped to maximize the use of tiny space and not overload it
The area of this small studio is 25 sq. m. Designer-decorator Julia Filimonova bought it "in concrete" and arranged it for herself. She is a vegetarian and leads an ascetic lifestyle, so the interior completely reflects her tastes and hobbies. Much in the apartment Julia made by hand. We show great solutions from the project — look and be inspired for renovations!
The heart of this apartment
Original finishing
For wall decoration, Julia chose different shades of gray and used various decorative techniques. Part of the walls she painted dark gray, part was plastered with cement mixture with a light texture, and the wall next to the sofa was decorated with a stipple effect — textured surfaces with a stylish look and make the atmosphere special.
Kitchen like no otherFor the kitchen cabinet, Julia chose a dark color. She painted the lower rack facades herself using wood oil and wax. The upper cabinet was made light-colored. The countertop is made of epoxy resin — Julia also poured it herself.
Stylish carpetThis is the first item Julia bought for her new apartment. It was from this that she drew inspiration to choose colors. For example, the apron, refrigerator, decorative elements and even furniture found their reflection in carpet tones.
Beautiful zoningThe relaxation area is separated from the workspace by a lace partition made to order. Julia likes to repaint it occasionally to match her mood. Originally, the partition was black, then gray, blending into the wall. Now it is accent and matches the tone of the apron and refrigerator in the kitchen.
Interesting furniture and unusual decorThe apartment is filled with vintage finds and original items that add character and individuality to the setting. A round table with a cast iron base reminds of a cozy French café. A beautiful fan above it (a lucky purchase at a flea market) fits perfectly into the interior. Flower stands are made from ordinary concrete blocks. A vintage oak dresser was restored by Julia herself, painting it in harmony with the rest of the furniture.
Curtain instead of a doorThe hallway is separated from the room with a minimalist black curtain. It saves space, does not look too strict and formal like a door, and adds extra coziness. A small closet is hidden behind such a curtain in the hallway.
