We show how you can transform even the smallest rooms

Usually, a bathroom occupies the smallest area, but its importance does not decrease as a result. This is where we relax after tough weekdays and recharge our mood in the morning. Our heroes managed to decorate great bathrooms without the help of designers — these five projects in 2022 stood out the most for you.

3.5 sq m Bathroom in a Khrushchyovka: Fit Everything and Even More

Nadya thought long and hard about what to put in a small bathroom — a bathtub or a shower. They chose the first option and didn't regret it: lying there with candles was extremely pleasant. The washing machine was moved to the hallway niche to save space.

The bathroom became the most vibrant one: two types of ceramic tiles were used on the walls — large white rectangular and square accent tiles. Some might think that using an accent tile was overkill, but in reality, the balance is maintained. The floor also features colorful tiles, and the blue furniture was custom-made.

A stone bathtub is more expensive but more elegant. A lot of attention was paid to storage: household chemicals and cosmetics were hidden in cabinets. The cabinet has many shelves, but holes in the walls are provided at all heights to adjust their positions. The bathroom screen was made by hand.

Bathroom with a Unique St. Petersburg Atmosphere

Liza decorated her apartment in St. Petersburg for rental purposes. Our heroine wanted to fill the bathroom with a distinctly St. Petersburg and tourist atmosphere. Then Liza remembered her trip to Portugal and love for azulejo tiles — the pattern creates one large tapestry.

The owner was inspired by a print from the Petrine era: the tile features the Peter and Paul Fortress, with rabbits and cherubs around it. The pattern may look naive, but for Liza, it is very vibrant and theatrical.

Extra cabinet furniture would have hit the budget, so our heroine came up with another idea: placed a furniture panel by the window (there is one in the bathroom) and put the washing machine on it, separating it with a fabric curtain. The wooden cabinet was ordered on Avito and hidden in a box.

Light Bathroom in a Micro-2

Olya planned the design of her micro-2 apartment herself, with a renovation by the developer: it took one week and 500 thousand rubles. The same simple tiles were used on the floor as in the whole apartment. White tiles on the walls looked boring: to make them more lively, the grout was changed to black — this brought the design closer to Scandinavian style.

Plenty of storage spaces were provided, and several cool life hacks were invented. First: the kitchen countertop was not thrown away — it was simply placed on the washing machine (without mounting — it’s already heavy enough).

The cabinet above the machine stores household items: it was ordered as a kitchen cabinet for the bathroom — this is the second life hack. Don’t worry, the access panel with the meter was not closed — it’s for sewer inspection and doesn’t need daily access.

Bathroom in a 2-Room Apartment for Six People

Our heroine Tatiana and her husband had already done a bathroom renovation about 20 years ago: then they just designed a strip ceiling and used regular tiles on the walls and floor. But several years ago, the soul desired change. A budget-friendly and original solution was found — repainting the tiles.

The result pleased the couple very much: the space became brighter and lighter. The combination of black and white — a classic that plays very interestingly here. The black tap and shelves echo the stripe on the wall, and they didn’t forget about decor — black-and-white photos in frames.
