How to Organize Open Storage in the Bathroom: 5 Great Ideas
Train your eye and get inspired!
Our heroine Olga Zhdanova and her husband did a great renovation in their apartment by themselves. The project has many interesting solutions, but we especially want to focus on the bathroom, which will definitely appeal to lovers of Pinterest-style interiors. Olga not only planned a great design but also came up with a brilliant open storage solution. That's what we'll talk about.
Countertop for a Drop-in Sink
Olga bought the countertop for a drop-in sink on 'Avito' for 10,000 rubles. Notice how airy the interior becomes if you don't clutter it with nightstands or cabinets.

Moreover, additional space is created under the countertop that can also be used for storage – for example, place a laundry basket there.

Wooden Shelves Near the Bath
Olga herself loves open storage, so wooden shelves were installed in the bathroom. Using wood in interior design is considered a current trend today: thanks to natural motifs, any space becomes more cozy and atmospheric.

Olga made the shelves herself: she bought planed boards at 'Leroy Merlin', cut them into equal pieces, coated the surface with garden furniture oil and attached them to brackets. If you're worried that they might suffer from humidity, Olga checked it out the hard way: after a year, the shelves were still intact and undamaged.
Shelf-Table
Another great hack you can borrow from Olga, if space allows: she didn't fix the lower shelf. The item gained a second function.

While taking a bath, Olga uses the shelf as a table. No extra investment was needed, and such a table looks absolutely wonderful in the interior.
Wooden Bench
Another brilliant and original solution for the bathroom — a wooden bench. It can be used both for storage and decoration, or for its intended purpose. Olga also made the furniture herself, but you can find a suitable model in a store. If you're ready to do it yourself, an instruction is provided.

You'll need planed pine timber 40*60 and a slab 28*300*1450. Our heroine bought the materials at 'Leroy Merlin': you can have the timber cut there right away. Timber: 4 pieces of 40 cm, and 4 pieces of 12 cm.
- You need to sand all parts with fine-grit sandpaper, and the edges of the slab first with coarse grit (better to do this with a grinding wheel).
- Coat the surface with garden furniture oil in three layers: this will protect against moisture and give a matte finish.
- After complete drying (2–3 days), sand the coating again with fine-grit paper — this reveals the wood grain structure. Then wipe all elements clean.
- Assemble the construction. Olga used screws 5.5 mm long: first, connect the legs of the bench, then attach them to the seat.
Storage Pouch
Usually, elegant baskets, boxes or special containers are used for storage in the bathroom. Our heroine showed a creative approach that added a stylish accent.

Toilet paper hangs on a hook in a simple pouch! It looks very nice and unusual. You can also hang a brush, comb or towel there.
