Stylish Snow-White Interior

A cramped and uncomfortable kitchen is not a reason to fall in love with cooking or spending evenings with family over tea. But if you put in the effort, everything will change dramatically. American designer Maggie Burns renovated the kitchen-dining room for her friend's family so that now they don't want to leave.

What Was There Before

Initially, the kitchen with microscopic dimensions was separated from the dining room and required a total overhaul. Both the kitchen and dining room needed new finishes, furniture, and color palette.

The main goal was to get rid of dull gray walls and implement a bright interior for family weekends.

Reconfiguration

The partitions between the kitchen and dining room were removed, allowing more air and light into the space.

A portion of the wall was left only where the electrical wiring passed — a wide opening was created there.

Finishing

The floor was tiled with warm-toned planks that created the perfect contrast with white walls. To prevent wood from deteriorating due to high humidity in the kitchen, it's enough to choose quality wooden flooring and treat it with protective lacquer.

Furniture

Instead of a dining table, an ergonomic island was installed where two or more people can sit. Inside, an efficient storage system was organized for easy placement of household appliances and kitchenware.

The countertop only looks like marble at first glance — in reality, it is porcelain but painted to resemble marble. Thus, the furniture not only cost less than natural stone but also looks indistinguishable from it.

Storage System

Before starting the renovation, Maggie asked the couple to leave only what was necessary in the kitchen so that afterward, they could correctly calculate the number of cabinets and drawers for storage.

Budget cabinets were brought from IKEA, and the doors were custom-made. Thanks to the light gray tone of the doors, the almost entirely white interior gained new colors and appeared cozier.
