Pro tips for decorating your apartment

A green space in the house is always beautiful and cozy. Today, artificial plants are a real trend in interior design for residential and non-residential spaces. They allow you to implement the most daring ideas in offices, restaurants, beauty salons, homes, and apartments.

So what's trendy today?

Home Garden or Tropics in Interior

Fitostena, fitokartina, fitopanno — instead of a regular wall — is a trend in indoor greening. However, today a unique structure that turns a wall into a luxurious garden becomes an art object, and fitodesigners become artists where instead of canvases with paint we see canvases made of living plants.

Shape Matters

Moss is going into the past — report those designers who have already used moss panels with stabilized moss on their projects. However, the avant-garde of European colleagues are convinced that this is a material that will never go out of style. Indeed, simple forms and classic realizations are already in the past. Now, relief, unusual geometric shapes, honeycombs, and many other unconventional materials are in trend.

Greening Unusual Places

Moss in the bathroom? Something from a horror movie. Yes, moss is now in bathrooms, kitchens, and hallways — there, where it seems to have no place at all. It can look different — as a panel, decorative inserts, and elements. In these spaces, stabilized moss is used both independently and in combination with other materials such as stone, clay or ceramic items, and wood.

For example, a brick wall covered with moss imitating a forgotten space. Moss doesn’t have to fill the entire surface. The material looks more effective when used fragmentarily. It can wrap columns, wooden beams, flower pots, lampshades, decorative cabinets, window sills, and ceilings.

Plant Zoning

Plant zoning is a convenient way to divide a space into several zones. It can be anything: fitostena, fitomodules, fitoconstructions, and even a “living” fence made of reeds or palms. By the way, glass partitions with plants inside are now gaining popularity. Glass helps secure the plants and looks very aesthetic.

Greenery Hanging from the Ceiling

Planting ceilings with vegetation is a very popular form of greening. It has taken root mostly in restaurants, beauty salons, fitness centers, and even homes and apartments. Especially popular in spaces where it is necessary to completely hide the ceiling for some reason. This can be either artificial greenery or stabilized moss and plants. In small apartments, in this season, plants also hang from the ceiling, but now in the form of green vines and ivy, decorative planters.

Minimalism in Planter Design

Speaking of planters, the modern trend is that the more invisible the planter, the better. The pot for plants should be almost invisible, no matter where it is located. This trend came to us from Japan. In a hanging earth ball wrapped in moss, a plant grows — the “kokedama.” Kokedamas are becoming more and more in demand in designers’ projects. However, a natural kokedama requires extremely complex professional care, so in Russia it is often replaced with artificial analogs.

SKY PLANTER

Sky planters, or plants “upside down.” This is also a relatively new trend in greening. These are special planters where plants are suspended “upside down” and the soil doesn’t spill out. Of course, such planters are mostly used for greening large-area spaces: restaurants, bars, hotels. However, designers have managed to transform them into living spaces. Flower chandeliers on the ceiling are becoming more and more in demand among designers even in small apartments, integrating into suspended chandeliers.

Herb Corner in the House

Besides aesthetics, plants bring great benefits by purifying the air in a room and creating a favorable atmosphere. That’s why modern concepts of greening are associated with the concept of healthy lifestyle. Today, a fitozone is not just a nature corner; modern designers have taken a course towards healthy living. Being in trend now means not just having a fitostena with live plants, but choosing plants that have specific healing properties, for example, those that destroy microbes, eliminate harmful microorganisms, absorb negative energy, or even relieve stress and headaches.

Ecotherapy or the Trend towards Eco-friendliness

The presence of living nature makes us happier. Flora is an important source of psychological well-being and human health. There is a lot of data indicating that interaction with the plant world helps people in restoring and maintaining mental health. Even in the work of psychotherapists, there are practices and techniques related to using flora. Therefore, don’t neglect plants in your home: they will become indispensable companions and helpers.
