Continuing our look at interior design tricks from designer Oksana Nechaeva. She managed to transform a regular apartment in an old building in Zamoskvorechye into a wonderful living space with maximum functionality. Take these ideas to heart!

1. Roman Curtains

Oksana replaced the classic sheer curtains in her living room with Roman blinds. The flowing sheer curtain was retained but was re-sewn to eliminate the 'grandmotherly' look and make the living room feel lighter and more modern.

2. Storage Above the Range

In her kitchen-living room, Oksana maximized space usage. Even the cabinet above the built-in sensor range was used. The designer stored wine glasses and other sets in a very aesthetic and original way.

3. Clothes Drying on the Ceiling

In her apartment, Oksana created a multifunctional laundry room of 3.5 sq m. It includes: washing and drying machines, a cabinet for storing tools, a shoe rack, clothes storage, vacuum cleaner, ironing board, ladder, safe, cosmetics and household items, and even a shower cabin fit in. The highlight is the remote-controlled clothes drying unit installed on the ceiling.

4. Refrigerator in the Bedroom

As a result of re-planning and the removal of gas in the apartment, two bedrooms were created. One of them is located where the kitchen used to be. Therefore, a Soviet-era refrigerator (a wall niche where air temperature is always lower than in the room) was preserved. Oksana slightly modified it and plans to store wine bottles there.

5. Desk by the Window Sill

In a small space, a workspace was placed at the window. The enlarged window sill made of artificial stone serves as a countertop, and a small footstool temporarily acts as a chair.

6. Sky on the Ceiling in the Child's Room

Oksana created a beautiful blue sky on the ceiling of her child's room using a stretched ceiling with print and lighting. LED strips were placed at least 10 cm apart to achieve even illumination. It looks really cool!
