Budget Bathroom from Your Dreams, Made by Yourself
Very beautiful design that was conceived and realized on your own
We already told about the wonderful house of Maria, where the entire design and renovation down to the smallest detail were created and done by herself without a designer or workers. The result was an infinitely cozy house in Scandinavian style with loft elements and a touch of vintage. Maria decided to share her experience and tell us how to decorate a bathroom by yourself and where you can save money. The house has two bathrooms, and both of them look absolutely stunning — every corner like a Pinterest image.
I love open storage: it directly encourages constant tidiness and beauty. The furniture setup is standard: a bathroom, a toilet, and sinks. The baths were installed by the windows. On the second floor, while lying in the bath, you can watch the sun set — absolutely breathtaking. Again, we installed large cabinets in both bathrooms, storing everything there and keeping nothing visible.

We bought a round mirror at IKEA with a discount, as it was the last one in stock. We wanted the shelves and countertop to be the same color as the round mirror. For that, we bought a wooden panel at a construction store, cut it to size, and extracted the texture.
Painted with white paint (we had SIKKENS, but any budget option should work) mixed with a protective and coloring compound in equal proportions, we applied the mixture with a brush onto the prepared shelf. Then immediately with a dry cloth, we rubbed in the paint into the texture almost until complete drying. Once the shelves were fully dry, we coated them with matte varnish. Our shelves are mounted on hidden brackets. The countertop was placed on a machine stand. More details about our bathrooms can be found in my blog on Instagram.

This chandelier hung in their apartment: grandfather bought it abroad, it was expensive at the time, and grandmother used to complain that grandfather spent money on nonsense. Originally we wanted it in the living room on the first floor, but then we bought rhombus tiles for the bathroom and crystal elements of the same shape on the chandelier, so we hung it in the bathroom.

We found a little table for the bathroom on "Avito" and instantly fell in love. I pick decor for my home very carefully. I knew all the flea markets and new arrivals from interior stores. Our windows have old vintage towels and curtains, and in the bathroom, I wanted real lace curtains. Naturally, I first define what exactly I want for the interior, but if I can’t find anything, I leave that idea aside, and the item eventually finds me. I even created a folder called "WANT" on my phone to save photos of interior and decor. Then, mysteriously, this folder empties.
