Transforming the most cluttered area of any apartment into a fully functional storage, workspace, or relaxation zone is no easy task.

First of all, we wanted to add more light — replace the glazing with many mullions and remove the closet that significantly darkened the room.
The freed-up area was used in two directions: as a mini-studio for drawing and an open wardrobe.

It took about a week to remove the old fixtures, replace windows, insulate, panel the walls with plywood, and install electrical wiring. Another week was spent finalizing small details — installing the wardrobe, sill, table, and laying carpet.

The biggest problem was poor workmanship by the construction crew: the window overhang was installed incorrectly. It took some time to fix it.

In the end, everything that was planned was achieved: a bright additional space was created where it's pleasant to spend time. Moreover, thanks to insulation, we were able to get rid of the annoying balcony door.

White is the best choice for wall finishing — this makes the space appear brighter. This is especially important for balconies located on the north side.
Insulate the Balcony From All Sides
This includes: floor, ceiling, and walls, including those adjacent to rooms.
