Unusual Solutions: 11 Cool Design Hacks from Our Projects
Each one should be added to bookmarks at least
We decided to expand the list of unconventional design solutions with another selection. This time we'll find out how to organize a workspace by the window, what interesting decoration to choose for walls, and how to properly zone the room.
Workspace by the Window
The client asked designer Natalia Isachenko to create an additional workspace by the window. A solid oak stand was integrated into the shelf, which forms a single whole with the kitchen cabinets. As a result, we got a workspace with a wonderful view of the River Bolshaya Neva.

Double-sided Shelf Partition
To visually divide the space and at the same time create additional storage, designer Tatyana Mantsivich suggested building a shelf partition. On the side of the living room, it has a TV and sliding drawers, while on the kitchen and hallway sides, there's space for coats, dishes cabinet, and a shelf.

Multi-functional Construction by the Window
Free space near the window can and should be used. For example, in Anna Shapovalova's project: instead of a windowsill, they created a comfortable spot for rest, with cupboards built on both sides of the window, one of which adjoins a desk.

Interesting Wall Finish
When you want to move away from ordinary solutions in finishing and avoid bright prints and patterns, an interesting alternative can be textured stenciled plaster. See how they decorated a wall behind the bed headboard in their project by AD-Home designers— it turned out original yet not ostentatious.

Mirror Sliding Door
The main storage system in this 2-bedroom apartment is a wardrobe. Its designer Marina Svetlova decided to hide it behind a sliding mirror door, which visually expands the space and replaces a standalone mirror in the full-length.

Sliding Soft Partition
A bright feature in Victoria Ivanova's project is a sliding soft partition that also serves as a headboard. One part of the angular window is closed off by the partition, and the other one is covered with a curtain. This way, 100% darkness can be achieved.

Workspace in a Nook
A small niche in the living room was used by designer Elena Erashetich as a workspace. It has everything for comfortable work: an overhead console, shelves for books and decor, several outlets for a lamp and electronics.

Idea for Decoration with Spots
Part of the wall opposite the dining table, designer Anastasia Bondareva decided to decorate with wooden strips, placing dark spots of various lengths between them. When the lights are on, it becomes cozier, and there's an interesting dynamic in the interior.

Ceramic Panel on the Wall
Almost all walls in this small 2-bedroom apartment are painted with water-emulsion paint. But in the relaxation area, designer Mariam Razueva decided to use an interesting technique: mount a large-format ceramic panel above the sofa. It became the central element in the room.

Painting on Light Walls
According to designer Ulyana Skapcova, the main feature of the project was painting on the walls. With its help, she managed to create a desired atmosphere of rest and ease in the interior. For finishing the walls in the hallway, they chose light paint, and for the floor—light tiles with a pattern that echoes the painting on the wall.
