A white kitchen is not boring. We prove this with designers' projects

A white kitchen can look different, all depends on details and how to play with it. We tell you what makes white kitchens look interesting and which design solutions are worth noting.

Cozy Kitchen in a New Building

The owner of this apartment wanted to see a light interior close to Scandinavian and hygge. So, for the kitchen-dining room, designers from Buro Brainstorm chose a white kitchen with a panel and light blue tiles for the backsplash.

To make the interior not look cold, they added warm wood tones. Parquet was laid on the floor, a dining set with wooden legs was chosen, and a bamboo lamp from IKEA was hung above the relaxation area.

Elegant Kitchen with Art Deco Elements

The owner of the apartment wanted a light interior with elements of modern classicism combined with the Art Deco style. The wallpaper pattern in the kitchen was chosen specifically with this in mind — rolls were ordered from France.

The pristine white kitchen cabinet was made in a carpentry workshop. To emphasize the elegance of the interior, they chose panelled doors and brass hardware. But the main feature of this kitchen was a backsplash made from black ceramic granite with golden veins. Set against the white, it looks stylish.

Small Kitchen in a Townhouse

This minimalist mini-kitchen is located in a small townhouse built in 1810–1823. A white was used as the general neutral background in the interior. Walls were painted with moisture-resistant washable paint Tikkurila Euro Extra 20.

The accent in the room was the deep green backsplash and a dark wall painted with graphite paint.

The kitchen space has an elongated shape. To visually improve the geometry of the space and reduce its depth, the main part of the kitchen cabinet was placed along the far wall up to the ceiling. The work zone is designed in one level, with no overhead cabinets or shelves.

Spacious Kitchen-Dining Room in a Townhouse

Designers Ekaterina Rebrova and Elena Povorova made a bet on neutral light finishes and unusual accents.

The kitchen cabinet is very large, custom-made, with a rounded side element on the island that supports a display case with mirrors. The backsplash is made of bricks with facets: each element was laid separately. A black element — moon ebony veneer — was also incorporated into the kitchen cabinet design.

Scandinavian Kitchen with IKEA Furniture

This apartment is intended for rent, so the budget was limited. In the end, they made a bet on affordable finishes and furniture. But the interior was still wanted to be bright with a summer vibe. So designer Anastasia Zarquaa chose warm olive green paint for the walls.

The white cabinet was bought at IKEA. 'I didn’t use overhead cabinets because I wanted to maintain visual lightness and airiness.'
— says Anastasia Zarquaa. — 'For the same reason, I opted out of a cabinet and left the metal pipe for the extractor open.'
'I’ll tell you a secret: it’s not actually a sideboard, but an IKEA bookshelf.'
— The narrow space next to the balcony was very narrow, and no cabinet would fit there. Still, the designer didn’t want to lose the space, so the shelf fitted perfectly!'

Stylish Kitchen in a Rental Apartment

Another rental apartment with a white kitchen but quite a different backdrop. The kitchen is joined with the living room. A G-shaped kitchen cabinet made on order helped zone the long space and make proportions more favorable.

A marble-like ceramic granite was chosen for the kitchen backsplash. An interesting trick — the ceramic granite was extended behind the sofa and connected to a round mirror.

White Kitchen in a Standard 2-Room Apartment

The small kitchen was joined with the living room: several large built-in wardrobes were provided here. The kitchen furniture was custom-made in a carpentry workshop due to the planned complex configuration.

The cabinet wraps around an 8-meter kitchen perimeter, and all elements are united by a stone countertop.

For the backsplash, they chose white 'calf' that almost blends with the kitchen cabinet. There are only a few contrasting details: the dining set — table and chairs — is made from dark wood, and a slate board.
