How to Transform a Cheap IKEA Table into a Luxury Item
How to turn an ordinary plastic table into a luxurious one with a 'marble' top? And all this without spending much money? We explain in our article
We got this idea from the Hunker website and decided to share it with you. Even the simplest and cheapest table can become 'expensive' and stylish. But for that, you'll have to resort to a small trick!
What do we need?
- IKEA GLADOM table;
- gold spray paint;
- self-adhesive glossy paper in marble style;
- scissors;
- ruler;
- fabric or plastic sheet to protect the floor.
Assemble the table
Just set aside the table top tray for now — we'll work on it separately.
Place the table on fabric or a plastic sheet to protect the floor and start working with the paint. It's easiest to use a spray.
Let it dry
While the table is drying, flip the tray upside down. Now we'll use it only this way.
Take the self-adhesive paper
And carefully stick it onto the surface of the tray. Move slowly and smooth out the paper with your palm to avoid air bubbles.
Trim excess
You'll probably have a lot of leftover paper around the edges. Don't tear it off — instead, carefully trim with scissors.
Use a ruler
And go over the surface once more to smooth it out.
Attach the tray to the table base
But first, make sure the legs are completely dry. Attach the tray upside down, as shown in the photo. Done!
