Cornice in Interior: Pros and Cons. What Would You Choose?
We have selected several interesting projects where moldings, sockets, and other elements of cornice decor were used.
Therapy Apartment in Moscow
In the design of a flat for a family with a child, designer Serge Makhov used matte paint in calm gray tones, as well as decorative moldings, ceiling cornices, and high baseboards. The cornice socket accentuates the coral glass chandelier beautifully. On a completely smooth ceiling, it would look overly ornate.

The owners of this apartment are chess players, and Karina Rimik chose finishes and decor that fully reflect their passion. According to the designer, many modern projects lack a specific stylistic direction and instead convey the client's individuality.
Chessboard patterns in the interior were interpreted using contrasts of black and white, both in finishes and furniture. Wide cornices and moldings on the walls, as well as a fireplace with cornice decor, harmoniously complement the interior.

This is a vibrant modern apartment designed for a young woman. Due to the small space—only 40 square meters—and low ceilings—2.5 meters—designers carefully incorporated elements of cornice decor into the interior. However, thanks to a wide ceiling cornice, the boundary between walls and ceiling becomes blurred, making the ceiling appear visually higher.

In this apartment, designers from ‘Malitsky Studio’ decided to create an ascetic environment with minimal decor. The walls were plastered and decorated with moldings, painted in light gray shades.
One advantage of architectural decor made from polyurethane is that it visually resembles plaster but is easy to install, water-resistant, and not afraid of temperature fluctuations. It can be painted in any color and is affordable, which is important when planning the renovation budget.

For a family with a teenage son, designer Nadiya Kiselykova decorated the interior in a modern style with interesting solutions and accents. Sliding doors were installed between the living room and kitchen for zoning. Six load-bearing columns were decorated with polyurethane moldings to integrate them harmoniously into the interior.

In the design of this apartment, designer Valeria Dan'kova used beautiful noble materials such as hand-painted wallpapers and ceramic granite mimicking marble. Moldings with mirror inserts on the walls helped visually expand the room.
