Kevin Systrom can afford any kind of housing. But he chose a cozy family home by the lake. The same lake where he and his wife Nicole first went on a date.

Kevin and Nicole approached the construction of their lakeside home creatively: they didn't start with a design project, but rather with a story about the house and its inhabitants. This is where Kevin and Nicole first met, and it's also full of nature preserves and national parks—just like New Hampshire, where Kevin grew up. For their children, the couple decided to recreate this same nature bonding experience.

Today, the two-story stone and wood house more resembles a historic manor. As for interiors, they are, to say the least, unusual. To plan the interior, designers first created a movie about the house, showing Kevin a storyboard.

Unique interior items from all corners of the world are collected in the house: 1920s vintage chairs, Bavarian antiques, rattan vintage pieces, a Stuart dynasty-era sofa—bold and, agreeably, delightful.

The kitchen in the house is a blend of style and comfort. It's no surprise that Kevin devoted most of his time to it, as he loves cooking. The facades are adorned with brass inlays. The kitchen island is made of walnut and also features brass elements.

The living room connects to the kitchen. The most important feature here is the view of the fairy-tale blue lake. There is also a door from the living room to the porch, as if hovering above Tahoe.

Bedrooms require special attention. Each one is decorated in a specific style. For example, there's the "Hemingway room" with a checkered carpet, vintage armchair, antique chest of drawers, and deer heads on the walls.

There is a "Bond-style room" and even a "poet's pub district," where curtains made from wool blankets hang, and quotes by Bukowski on them make the interior even more fun.

The daughter has grown up and also fell in love with Tahoe. It's lovely to see! We go on forest hikes, swim at the beach, and watch sunsets while observing old wooden boats passing by.
