What Does the Instagram Founder's House Look Like?
Kevin and Nicole approached the construction of their lakeside home creatively: they didn't start with a design project, but rather with a story about the house and its inhabitants. This is where Kevin and Nicole first met, and it's also full of nature preserves and national parks—just like New Hampshire, where Kevin grew up. For their children, the couple decided to recreate this same nature bonding experience.
As a child, I spent every summer with my grandmother and grandfather in the forests of New Hampshire. I remember how it impressed me.

Today, the two-story stone and wood house more resembles a historic manor. As for interiors, they are, to say the least, unusual. To plan the interior, designers first created a movie about the house, showing Kevin a storyboard.

Photographer: Douglas FriedmanBedrooms require special attention. Each one is decorated in a specific style. For example, there's the "Hemingway room" with a checkered carpet, vintage armchair, antique chest of drawers, and deer heads on the walls.
Our friends already have their favorite rooms in our house. When they come to visit, they already know where we place them.

There is a "Bond-style room" and even a "poet's pub district," where curtains made from wool blankets hang, and quotes by Bukowski on them make the interior even more fun.
