How to Create a Country Atmosphere in an Apartment: Example from Spain
This Spanish apartment was incredibly lucky with its view from the window: it opens onto a natural park. Designers took advantage of this benefit and created an atmosphere of a countryside house in the interior. They didn't let even modest dimensions of a two-bedroom apartment — just 60 sq. m — get in the way.

First of all, designers eliminated the typical problem of small apartments — the cramped feeling in small rooms. They combined the living room and kitchen into a single space. This way, they added air and spaciousness typical of a countryside home.

The design used typical elements of country style: warm color palette, wooden panels, aged furniture, and exclusively natural materials.
This style is popular in Spain but slightly differs from the typical rural style. Most of the country's population lives in provinces, so Spanish countryside style values modernity and closeness to nature, as well as Mediterranean and ethnic motifs in decoration.

The walls in the apartment were painted in a sandy color — a typical decoration for Spanish interiors. In hot climate conditions, such shades reflect sunlight and do not retain heat. The color palette was complemented with warm chocolate, cream, and nut tones.

Modular furniture in this project easily complements solid wood furniture, woven decor, and elements made from untreated wood.
The secret is in functional elements like a TV stand or shelves, which were made light and nearly invisible. They don’t draw attention to themselves and let the country elements play the leading role in the interior.
